Villa are such a massive club, they never even looked at Maupay in the first place obviously.

When you consider some of the greats they've had upfront over the Prem years i.e. Julian Joachim, Agbonlahor, Dion Dublin, Juan Pablo Angel. Villa fans would feel outraged (and rightly so) if they looked at Championship centre forwards.

Indeed that's what I usually do. I don't generally spend much time looking at transfer threads, as it's mostly guesswork and signings are a long way off, but this one seems so close I basically can't do anything else today until it's done.

I just thought it was too obvious to mention him as a Villa legend. The man doesn't even need to score goals to get this sort of recognition.

I feel a little uncomfortable saying this, but the truth is I am not sure how I feel about this transfer to be honest. I'm dreading another attacking player not being able to transfer their form from the previous season, in another league, into the PL. I suppose unless you are signing a current PL striker then that will always be the worry. We don't seem to have great luck with goal scorers, I can't really think of any who have really done the business for us beyond BZ and GM, and I can't think of any who aren't tall target men.
Still, if this is who we are going for, then I hope it happens and I hope he can hit the ground running in the PL.

Terms were agreed at 9:30am yesterday. Comfirmed by an impeccable sauce.
The last 30 hours have been used to identify, approach and aquire the neccessary pen for the deal to be finalized.
