That would be a seismic change but can't see it happening. Too many that should go take the view that labour is engrained in the psyche rather than a pragmatic approach that Labour isn't what it used to be!

Who cares what the Twitter anti semites (and their apologists) think? Thousands of angry militants will never keep the brave quiet. They simply can’t resist and in doing so ironically harm the chances of a Labour government. They can mobilise all they like, but extremes/racism will always be a minority sport in this country.

How do they differ from those already in power?

Well Stat, a quick reply; they are even more incompetent than the present shower and have a truly misguided hard left wing agenda that is not what this country needs.
Thankfully, I believe we have passed peak Corbyn and I pray that the decent Labour Party can be reconstructed in the reasonable future.
Finally, I do not believe Corbyn to be fit to be PM of UK and he and McDonnell etc. could not be trusted with the defence of this country.

What are the details of these charges of anti-Semitism, or are people using the situation for their left/right political agenda's?

have to chuckle at the whataboutery refering to Blair, then the subtle shift from anti-semitism to anti-racism. then as a finale, a wholesale deselection/re-election in all constituencies. thats not the real objective, no siree.

So, is this anti-Semitism against Jewish people, the religion or against the Israeli State? Has it been made clear what its about? Ive not seen anything but the words ..anti-Semitism..
tbf, ive not really looked into it that much but I for one would like it, if its made a bit clearer.

Anti-semitism relates to prejudice or discrimination against Jewish people. So it’s people - not the religion or Israel itself.

Amazed that any adult posting away on politics didn’t know that. It’s simply logical.

Perhaps that’s partly why the the loons of the left and right keep making racist slurs.

Quite, thats the point. This is people shouting anti semitism when its anti Zionism in my belief. Ive not seen any Jewish people attacked particularly.

I understand what anti semitism is. My family is Jewish on my mothers side. So, you believe its a left/right issue?
What are the specific accusations. What people are being discriminated and how exactly?

The Labour leadership have said there’s anti semitism, Livingstone and Williamson caught out, so ask them.

You’re falling for the age old Labour loving fan from afar trap of not accepting there’s significant anti semitism in the party. Thankfully McDonnell and Watson are open minded.

Some blurred lines here.

Here a five standards from the internationally accepted definition of Anti-Semitism that reference Israel. The Labour Party certainly has issues with a few of these.

1. Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.

2. Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.

3. Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.

4. Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.

5. Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.

Absolutely. I was on a coach heading for a The Amex when I replied - hence keeping my definition to a fairly simplistic one. I totally understand it goes much wider than that. I’ve been to Auschwitz and the Holocaust memorial etc in Berlin. In my opinion The Labour Party has many issues with Anti-semitism. Those that say... “well where’s the W widened then” are either blind or have buried their heads in the sand because they don’t want to see it!

This is about the Israeli state.

It's more than that. The Labour party having massively increased their membership have taken in a fair few conspiracy theorists.

It's obviously not everybody but a fair few have fused socialism with beliefs that are akin to David Icke.

You have 9-11 "truthers" holding prominent positions in local parties.

A very loud minority.

It's the left's parallel with those on the right who think all Muslims are terrorists. Although left and right really don't mean much to me any more, when you have arch brexiteers and racists in both camps.

Institutionally Labour isn't anti-semitic, but institutionally (because of it's history) is massively struggling owning up to it. The exception being the likes of Tom Watson who are.

Throw into that, most Jewish voters don't vote for the party and the Labour party membership has become very much "us" and them. The last politician thinking like of course being Thatcher.

I bet they hate that.......
