Hopefully, not long, as it will broaden a few horizons.

Would be interesting to see the viewing figures, and how many people switch off when it starts. I'm guessing at least 90%.

This. “We’re now going over to Roddy Forsyth at Celtic Park where failed English striker has made it 6-0.”

Apart from a few Scots and Irish living in England, who gives a feck.

Followed three days later by:
We’re now going over to Roddy Forsyth at Celtic Park where Celtic are toiling against Lichtenstein champions, FC Vaduz

Besides, it's not always a failed English striker. Sometimes it's a failed Scottish striker who has tried his luck in England and failed to get near the top (Leigh Griffiths, Ally McCoist), sometimes it is a half decent Englishman who didn't quite win as many trophies as he felt he deserved so has gone to Scotland to top up his trophy count (Chris Sutton, Paul Gascoiigne) and sometimes it's a foreign flat track bully who has plied his trade in an average European league, who now wants lots of trophies before moving onto a proper league (Dembele, Lovenkrands, Van Hooijdonk).

That last sentence wasn't really necessary, was it?
Necessary? No. But still worth adding I feel. When I hear from Scottish people, the most common thing I hear is about their identity being separate from ours, and also their wish for independence. So any Scot wanting a couple of their clubs to join us, because their league is crap, feels completely hypocritical.

You hear from Scottish people a lot do you? Seems more feasible to me that you have probably heard that once or twice and because it fits in with yours, and a fair few others judging by this thread, prejudice you've decided to focus on that aspect. Regards the last bit, it wasn't just some of the people connected with the Old Firm clubs who wanted it, it was people in the game this side of the border too. The idea that all these Scottish fans are hanging around the school gates waiting for the sexy English girl to look their way is frankly absurd.

Really don't understand the vitriol directed to both Scottish football and in particular Celtic (together with some poor comments about women's football). Celtic fans are passionate about their team and annoyed in the manner he left and that he did not deliver a lot of fans would feel that way.

Weird isn’t it. When I was in the navy, almost to a man the Evertonians were funny and great to be around. The reds were to be frank .... ********s. It has clouded my judgement ever since ...

When the anti Scouse NSC binfests arise (every fortnight since the Albion became “big time”), I sometimes mention alternative parts of the country where I personally have come across tossers. In holidays over the years, I’ve come across a load of Cockney and Manc scum. The sort always looking to fight, not football related, sometimes old blokes, or who dominate poolsides or hotels with their behaviour. Also a couple of instances of Sunderland fans overseas too spoiling it for others. In the same way that your LFC fans dealings clouded your view, the lot I mention did it for me.

Rodgers delivered loads, he owes them nothing.

Friends stayed in Rhodes, where Celtic fans there were openly looking to “Whack the English”. Dispelling the falsehood that only Gers fans like trouble.

Not sure about that regular as European Championship football at the group stages was the target and that didn't go that well.

So, why are they are gutted about his departure?

They’re shite in Europe because their player budget is crap on the European stage, leaving them with players who are poor at that level. Plus it must be hindrance being flat track bullies every week against mainly weak opposition.

I don't give a flying f*ck about Scottish Football. I would never get in to a discussion about it.

But the one thing that gets me typing is any mention of either of those two clubs and the EPL. Bollox to that and thankfully it will never happen. Eurghh!!

The difference between the Scottish league and our league, is Scotland have 2 teams guaranteed the top 2 places, we have 6 teams guaranteed the top 6 places. all the rest of the teams in both leagues are miles away in terms of competition and money.

Both boring as hell.

The difference is the Scottish League is in Scotland and The Premier League is in England. Why would we allow a team or teams from Scotland join the English league? yes yes I know about Cardiff but they've been in the English leagues since more or less the beginning.
Who next Real Madrid?

Yes, I game online with Scottish people most weeks.

Nope.

'The people in the game'? Who are they exactly? Jim White probably. Obviously not a chunk of the population.

Well yes, if someone was saying that, it wouldn't be accurate. When I do here of the idea, it comes from Scottish people, and goes against everything else they say regarding Scotland and their identity. I think it's a bad idea, and the majority of those championing it are hypocritical Scots.

But it's, er, rubbish.

And there are some people that think the men's game is rubbish too.

After 70 years of being ignored - even prevented from playing the game - you really think we're going to see change over a couple of seasons.

Actually, if you watch some of it, you'll find it's very enjoyable. Same sport, different game.

In your opinion do you think it will be on an even par with the men’s game in say 10 / 20 years time at the rate it’s going?

Frustrated because they saw him as a new dawn and it did not happen. I think it was hoped he would be in the know and would attract a lot of decent players e.g. loanees from Liverpool in the way many thought we would be getting some Barcelona loanees when Garcia turned up. It did not happen and their antagonism was probably influenced by BR's own comments about dream job etc....

The reality as you say is they don't have enough money to compete.
