Not good news for the punters out there and I imagine it maybe for a week or two. The British Horseracing Authority have been warning trainers for a while about the prevalence of equine flu but it appears that vaccinated horses from one yard, in the north, ran yesterday at Ayr and Ludlow and showed signs of the flu.

Worst case here is no Cheltenham and possible Aintree. Crippled racing in Australia for month's. From a personal perspective, it's seemingly ruined my antepost gamble on Gary Moores horse for Saturday.

It’s ruined my plans of travelling to Brighton (from Eastbourne) to take advantage of William Hills generous offerings that aren’t available to me in the local shops

One would hope it will be limited to weeks rather than days. Plumpton race on Wednesday and being a member there it would be handy if that is on but I wouldn’t be hopeful.

No horse racing, £2 max stake on the roulette machines. It'll lead to reduncies and I'm concerned for my two local shops and the great staff that work long hours.

I'm afraid I have no sympathy for the bookmakers or their staff. In my view it's a highly unethical business that exploits on many levels.

Announcement expected later on today after more tests. I think we are looking at a week or so off. I specialise in jump racing so will be having some well earned downtime if that is the case.

Not looking good for a quick start with a small number of horses that ran yesterday at three meetings have been tested positive. All yards, around 100, with runners now on lockdown and cannot have runners.

Fairly sure they will bust a gut to get the Newbury races from Saturday put on the following weekend but depends on how the long the shut down goes on for,

Could make life interesting for Fontwell on 24th with the National Spirit meeting. If the shutdown goes on a bit longer then they might either find themselves with a cracking set of entries for that meeting or find themselves up against a decent day of racing somewhere else.

Closing better shops won’t prevent that, we have an economy that is predicated on consumer spending and credit.

People are pissing their wages away every week, whether that’s needless consumables, vice or both.

Censoring behaviour you don’t agree with is just another slice off the salami of personal freedom.
