Went to a Bay City Rollers gig (one of their post original guises no doubt) at the Student Union of Goldsmiths College, South East London.
Band comes on.
Starts Playing
Student lobs pint at band.
Members of the band pile in to the crowd.
Lights go Up...Sirens..Police...gig cancelled.
Absolute rock and roll!

This is Woody Mellor who played pick-and-shovel guitar with the 101ers. Was it him?

No, he had long dark hair and a moustache and used to start most of the songs in the north stand with the two (nearly always pissed) twin brothers (think one was Paul )
That was Dick Knight.
