Of course it is important any leader knows when to make the right decisions around security but this was a ridiculous line of questioning as the conditions under what circumstances you would launch a nuclear weapon would be incredibly complex and he was right to avoid being drawn into what scenarios he would launch under. At times it felt like people would have been happier with a trump like character reassuring them he would not hesitate to hit the button.

I am by no means a Corbyn fan but was refreshing to see someone who actually showed an understanding of what pressing the button actually means. Would rather have someone with that mentality holding the trigger than a warmonger[/QUOTE]

Do you really think that Corbyn is the only one who understands what pressing the button would mean? Surely you don't think that he is the only one and no one else could possibly appreciate the consequences.. And your final comparison is very convenient - why does it have to be a so-called warmonger, as you put it. Which PMs with their hand on the proverbial button since 1945 have been warmongers?

Nobody ever, ever, ever wants to use them, but they are a deterrent, but a deterrent would not work if your energy knows you would not use it.

It's unspeakable people blowing up venues In Manchester I'm worried about. Not negative energy.

Why are we being dragged back into the 80's? No one cares about Nukes anymore, they've not killed anyone in decades!

There are 196 countries in the world.

Nine of those countries have nuclear weapons.

Seemingly 187 countries need to get nuked-up pretty damn quick or they're going to frizzle-fry.

How is it. I would say the complete opposite. Know you've made a **** up, and have the balls to admit it and change it.

If Labour win, there is no way on this earth that they will keep that policy. Its a vote winner on the vulnerable and easily lead.
I'll admit, from the point of view of attainability that might seem so depending on your point of view - but in the eyes of the general public it increases the sense that you really have no idea what your policies are.

Incorrect, he isn't writing off debt for those who already owe tuition fees.

Your original post on tuition fees was factually incorrect as well. It isn't a quarter of the budget, which is obviously a great deal more substantial than 4x10bn. It'a 700bn+

It's interesting how we are told individual debt is bad and should be avoided, yet we're willing to start people off in life with 50k of debt, that they start paying massive amounts of interest on from their first year at university.

Go check your facts, Jezza is talking of a 10 year write back. My 25%, a QUARTER, of the budget was based upon David Dimblebys question to Jezza which he did not contest.

Could someone explain to me why 98% of the countries of the world dont have nukes, don't want nukes, don't spend squillions trying to get nukes and dont have problems getting to sleep at night worrying that someones going to drop one on their head.

Personally, I think nuclear weapons should only be used by will smith against hostile invading aliens ; however, the military logic for keeping trident is quite simple. Why would another nuclear power (and possible future nuclear states) threaten / attack the UK with nuclear weapons when they will get slapped straight back in the face?

And let's not forget the 1 country that gave up its entire nuclear arsenal was invaded and had a chunk of it's territory occupied and stolen by the thief in the kremlin.

Exactly. A bit like Brexit. You need to be prepared to say you will use them.

It's a deterrent FFS. How can you deter people with them, if you won't confirm that you are prepared to use them.

I thought it was more that he wouldn't order a pre- emptive strike,,

One nuke fired at Britain does not kill everyone. The following waves when the bad guys realise we will not defend ourselves will almost certainly wipe nearly everyone out

So in your scenario they fire 1 just to see how we got on, wait a while to see if we notice / fire back, then when we don't they fire loads more? Are you saying they are tactically inept? Do you not think they just fire the waves straight off - hence the reason a deterrent stops being a deterrent and becomes mutually assured destruction.

Except he's just confirmed himself as a Conservative Party activist on the BBC News Channel.

Thanks for your well thought out answer. However, it doesn't change the fact his gripe was having to pay more to his staff in order for them to earn a living wage.

Doesn't matter who he votes for.

The principal remains the same. Of course his gripe is with a policy that will likely send his, and thousands of other businesses under. Why wouldn't it be?

Do you not understand that if you have to pay a lot of staff about 40% more. 40% more corporation tax, at a time when costs are rising, then business won't be there to pay the £10 minimum wage! Not that the 40% rise in corporation tax will matter, as no **** will be paying it as no one will make a profit!! Apart from the likes of Amazon, but then they don't pay much tax as it is.

I think that a gripe any small business owner has, who ever the vote for.

Something I don't get here and I may just be being naive is the notion of an individual nuclear strike on the UK in which the UK PM alone makes a decision on response. Where is NATO in all of this? If North Korea decided to nuke Copenhagen would NATO leaders just stand back and say 'well we'll miss the pastries and Elephant Beer' . Surely nuclear conflict and decisions on responses to it occur on a more multinational level.

He also did not confirm he was use them in retaliation.

So if North Korea's Ping Pong Plop sends one our way, he DID NOT confirm, despite being pressed quite hard on it, that he would be prepared to retaliate. Maybe he would after the 5th or 6th one comes our way, who knows.
