Chill. This time last season we were all getting excited, this league can bite you on the bum. We are looking strong at the moment but I certainly will not counting any chickens for quite some time. People I work with keep saying 'You are certs to go up', I just answer 'maybe' as things can change so quickly. For the moment let us just enjoy where we are, I for one would happily take a point up at Brum on Saturday for starters.

It's done us a massive favour by Villa and Derby having nightmare starts with the wrong managers and Norwich having a shit one.
If these three had their ducks in a row at the start it would be a hell of a lot closer. It's our chance and with strength in depth I can't see us slipping up.

Yes, but we did all this last year and then Burnley went on a 23 game unbeaten run from Boxing day until the end of the season. Let's not get cocky.

Only us can stop us. 2 poor goals is disappointing. Stockdales weak punch and Norwood and March lack of effort tracking back for their second could have cost us on another day. Pleased with the 3 points, but Hughton will be pissed with the soft goals and some bad decision making. Greer getting sent off made it easier for us, but to concede when having a man advantage shouldn't happen that easily.
So yes if we don't go up it will more than likely be stupid errors, lack of concentration and bad decision making on our part that will cost us. We are our biggest threat now.

You've missed out Derby who surely are the biggest threat and you'd expect to be above two of those (and Leeds) this time tomorrow.
Exactly my thoughts. They started badly and still have their toughest fixtures to come. They'll make top 6 I imagine but not a real threat to top 2 unless we go off the rails

Only ever take a point when it is mathematically what you need (a la Boro vs. us). Wins are what count. I wouldn't take a point on Sat now - possibly if we are down to 10 and it is 0-0 with 5 to go, but not now. Look at the table now; even with less than half the season to go there is a very high degree of correlation of games won and position in table. Only Villa are more than a couple of places out on this measure. CH knows it - mentioned several times that the number of draws early last season cost us. Anecdotally, he seems to be less defensive with substitutions - attacker for attacker and/or midfielder for attacker later in game.

The three substitutes will be needed to replace Ayew, Kodjia and Adomah next month while they play in Africa and the signings will replace the subs. Cant see a gain until ACN is over and by then too late...
