One of the best events at the Bluebell next weekend. Looking forward to going up on the Sunday after what I hope is a good result against Naaarich.

Free vintage bus from Brighton every fifteen minutes and "intensive" steam services from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead all day including visiting engine 70000 Britainnia.

Fully expect a few anorak comments, but I know there are enough heritage rail fans here to make posting worthwhile.

Photo of the old Kemp Town station came up on Twitter today.
Photo taken in 1964.

Loco looks like a Q class. Possibly 30530.

I will take your word for it.
Love the picture. Looks like it belongs more from the 1930's than the 60's though! How times have changed in the last fifty years.

Great photo, it's hard to imagine seeing a station there now.
When I was a kid I went on the last train from Brighton to Kemp Town.

Does the tunnel in the background still exist?

The demolition of the Hartington Road bridge was a dreadful piece of vandalism. The brickwork on that bridge was like nothing I've ever seen elsewhere - just beautiful. It should have been listed.

Bridge? ??? Viaduct :)

I thought it was very similar to the one over Preston Road.

Bridge: single span. So not a viaduct.

Crossed the road diagonally, and of course on quite a hill, so it was sort of skewed in two planes. The bricks were laid diagonally - it was just a beautiful piece of work.

Side where Cox's pill factory was.

Cemetery side, motor mechanics workshops underneath.
Surely this is a viaduct.
