Until January at at the earliest we will score less than we did in the 2nd half of the last season. Given our strength in defence we will concede less also, so I can see a fair number of 1-0 wins (hopefully!)

Given that Murray isn't the nurturing/leader type, based on his performances since Rotherham, I'm almost sorry we didn't keep Zamora for another year and paid him to have treatment and play a dozen games.

Long season let's hope he finds some motivation.

I wished I shared your confidence our recruitment department will actually come good on this one in January.

Our lack of ambition in the transfer window cost us last session and it will be same again this season.

Lack of ambition implies we don't want to get a striker and push for promotion. Which of course we do. I think it's more down to the fact we're not that good at getting who we want and maybe play hard ball a little too long. It feels like we can always just wait it out and act in January if we need to.

The baffling thing for me is that we spent so much on Duffy. If we had that much cash at our disposal for a defender, surely we could have got one of Hughton's targets in. I'd have gladly sacrificed some of that cash for a worse defender and a better striker. (but what do I know?)

The whole transfer market must be a nightmare for a club like us trying to do things "the right way" and not pay above the odds. But there are a few things we've done of late which do leave me a bit confused... It's not lack of ambition though that's for sure.

We need to be scoring goals for fun, with the likes of Brentford doing it, can't be that difficult!!
Goal difference will count big time, come end of season.
1-0's are good, but our strike force need to score bloody goals

Even if we had bought a quality striker we would go through periods where we don't score. All teams could do with a top striker but they don't grow on trees and from what I've seen if we had one they wouldn't have had much service this season.
I just think it's becoming a mantra that all our problems stem from lack of a striker. It's still early in the season and once the midfield starts being more creative the goals may or may not flow. Let's see.

There's plenty of reasons why Derby can't score, most of them begin and end with Pearson.
A manager capable of almost getting a Premier League winning side, relegated.

Baldock is a lge1 striker and this has now been proven beyond all doubt, i personally think he was extremely lucky to have survived the cull when CH took over - i put SB in the same bracket as Colunga, Holla and many of those other awful signings made by Burke, only now are many on here realising that he's not up to it

We don't need a striker - we need two strikers

3 goals in the last 5 games isn't great, but it's still too few games to call it anymore than a lean spell - we had one last season that lasted 6 games without a single goal! Stats need to be looked at over a longer period: in 12 competitive games overall this season we've scored 19 goals.

The league scoring hasn't been brilliant with only 10 in 8 games, but I don't think the team has clicked yet. Only Dunk and Knockaert have picked up where they left off last year. I'm also one of those boring sods that reckons Defence>Attack when it comes to promotion. Give me scrappy, solid defensive 1-0 wins home and away against Hudds and Burton over last year's 2-2 draws away at Bolton and home against Burnley any day.

It's not just the fact that we didn't buy enough in the summer, but that Hughton is frustrated that the no.10 he wants isn't being delivered and he wants it more than any of us. Ultimately it could end up with Hughton rebounding off Gus's Ceiling and moving on.

And why would that be if they know? They tried to, but bringing in a good striker is the hardest job.
