Should Inflammatory Threads Be Removed From NSC?

A greAter level of protection? What are you protecting us from? Those non Brighton fans and their mean words?

No. I get most criticism from people complaining too much latitude is shown to those from opposing teams.

We are prepared to give pretty much everyone a chance. I often accept new user registrations from people who have chosen provocative usernames, for example. But if your opening post is going to be abusive and/or homophobic then it's also likely to be your last.

When emotions are running high, almost any contribution from an opposing fan is seen as inflammatory by some. If we allow the posts to stay, we get criticised. If we remove them, we are criticised. We just do what we think is likely to be in the best interests of a community focused on Brighton & Hove Albion. We might get it wrong sometimes, but we are always well-intentioned.

I don't think a thread where an opposing fan has posted provocatively, leading to being called a **** 50 times, is a particularly healthy thing.

Disagree.

Move them to a separate forum ( 'away end' / Other Stuff ), and those who want the threads can read them there.

Why can't those that don't want to be involved in them just ignore them?

What a load of over-sensitive bollocks. I'm amazed some people on here leave their houses without a police escort.

It's our own fault for responding to them. If we all just totally blanked them and watched them quickly slip off the first page with zero replies then other knobs would soon get the message.

Your call bozza, you and the other mods do a great job as far as I am concerned.

I just think it is a shame that people can't handle an opposing opinion without hurling abuse or asking a mod to ban someone.

Sign of the times I suppose but don't feel you need to protect all of us from opposing fans.

Just put in an Away End, problem solved.

And do what with it? Force all fans who support other sides, including all the long-standing and decent ones we have, to only post in that sub-forum? Aren't we a bit bigger and better than that?

No, a simple 1 strike and your out rule should do it.

Because the thread titles still appear.

Move them to a different forum for those who want to see them - problem solved.

This would solve the problem. I just can't believe there is one.

The thread titles really shouldn't worry us imho.

NSC is not a "Safe Space". It's one of the things which makes it a breath of fresh air in the world today.

Please don't make it one.

Maybe for those that encourage them by replying with abuse too.

If a poster abuses another or uses homophobic language then ban them regardless of which team they support.

From what I have seen of theses threads our fans are as bad if not worse than those visiting.

Blanket rule for me, regardless.
