So, Kane and Vardy are the PL top scorers......

I don't see how we could drop a moomin-headed player on £300k per week. Surely his vast wage should immediately grant him the respect such cash-piles deserve. Vardy, on the other hand, is probably on £40k or £50k. Clearly an inferior player.

Lineker a failure? You mean the player that won the golden boot in Mexico 86 ahead of players like Maradona, Careca and Emilio Butragueno? I'm sure the reason that the '86 side failed wasn't Gary Lineker.

Perseus would probably think that Messi was also a failure too because, at the World Cup 2014, his team failed to win the tournament and he didn't even win the golden boot (but something Lineker (a failure in Perseus's eyes) managed for England in Mexico '86)

Allí has been a success at club level, but really would be worried about his ball retention in a high quality international game. Flicks, risky balls, counter attacking etc. all work in the PL, but you start losing possession in internationals and you're in trouble.

I completely agree - but we actually have a chance here of forward thinking.

Unless you are high most people think 1/4 would be a decent return - let's blood some youngsters and get them ready for 2018.

Plus I would rather watch players like Barkley and Alli than Henderson and Delph.

Been saying drop him for years. No doubt he will play and pundits will spend hours talking about how to build a squad around him again.

Hart

Clyne------Smalling-----??????-------rose

Dier

Alli------------Barkley

Sterling---------------------vardy

Kane

Exciting going forward, with Sturridge, Welbeck, Walcott (if he regains form), Rooney and Lennon all as options for front 3 but I'd start with those. Bertrand has a good case for LB as well id say. The biggest question is who plays CB alongside smalling? Stones doesn't look finished article, Cahill is all over the place at the moment and who else is there? Could drop dier back, but then who else can play the holding role?

Mine was slightly different

This would be my team

Butland

Clyne Smalling Jagielka Rose (shaw if fit)

Dier

Barkley Drinkwater Alli

Vardy Kane

I agree about stones - i would still be tempted to play him.

I'm sure it's blasphemy, but I really rate Dann as well

That gives you:

Welbeck
Sterling
Sturridge

Off the bench

To think, there was a time when Adams and Keown couldn't get in the team! What's happened to the old fashioned English centre back?!

The blind faith shown in some of the 'big fours' ageing players with a history of international failure behind them is one of the main reasons we struggle to move forward as a national team. Also the main reason I no longer bother with England which is a shame as we have some exciting young talent that would go to the Euros without fear.

Sadly I think we all be served up the usual rubbish from 'experienced' international players like Rooney and Milner

I would argue the opposite. It is at club level you are punished for silly mistakes, premier league clubs play with each other continuously for seasons at a time and can counter quickly and punish mistakes. It's at international competitions the flair meisters really come into their own as the teams are ever-changing and less settled. The only teams I would say would really do the same are Germany and Spain and they mostly all play for the same club team.

This is all a waste of Internet ink as England have an absolute fraud as a manager. He must laugh himself to sleep every morning and afternoon.

You just know we will all be getting excited about all the young talent we have coming through and all the inform players we have to choose from, then Woy will have us lined up for the first game with something like:

Hart

Jones
Jagielka
Cahill
Baines

Walcott
Carrick
Henderson
Milner
Lallana

Rooney

I'd like to see this side - the emphasis will be on the front 4 with the full-backs bombing on and Dier dropping back:

1. Hart
2. Clyne
3. Rose
4. Cahill
5. Stones
6. Dier
7. Drinkwater
8. Alli
9. Vardy
10. Kane
11. Sterling.

That last lineup is utterly depressing because you know that is what will happen, although probably Clyne at RB and Sterlo over Theo.

Edit - Whings lineup

What is the betting though that Rooney will play up front for England in the Euros? I really think it is time for Rooney to be dropped to the bench as he has done nothing at tournaments since 2002.

Would you play Kane and Vardy up top?

Whoever we play up front, midfield, back etc etc - we'll f**k up - because we're England and we're a load of
bottlers when it comes to big matches. .

Unbelievably Woy stated on Talksport that he does not believe in picking form players and he only picks players based on talent. Much as I agree with your choice Woy doesn't seem to and pretty much said Wilshire and Rooney will start if fit.

I tend to agree to play players depending on talent. Certainly, sign players according to talent (and potential) rather than form (especially if playing for Peterboro). The trick in signing players is to choose players that were good once and going through at bad patch (whilst still not having attained thier best: up to age 26 usually) cause they are cheaper. I think at international level and the higher they go the more important it is.

I don't think Lineker was a match winner when it really mattered v Germany in Italy.

Roy says he's likely only to take 4 strikers for the Euro's & stay loyal with those who played in the qualifiers. That probably means Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge and one from Kane/Vardy.

for the next World Cup maybe, very light on experience. maybe that means they just go for it? not likely under Hodgson though.

i can see him favouring Kane, he is in form and he offers some hold up play, with brilliant finishing.
