Mr Corbyn under fire again from the Daily Express.

Although I am left-leaning, I am not a supporter of Mr Corbyn. But as a person of faith, I happen to think he has a point - in fact several good points, and plenty of people within the Churches would agree and would be saying similar things at points over Christmas.

Part of the criticism is that Christmas is about People, not poitics, but for me, Politics is about People. To cut a long story short, as Archbishop Desmond Tutu once said, "Anyone who thinks that the Church and Politics don't mix is reading a different Bible to me!".

I was at my daughter's carol service last week and the vicar made exactly the same comparison between Mary and Joseph and refugees. There were no rumblings of disagreement from the congregation so, presumably, this was thought an appropriate comparison. Not quite sure why it's OK for a vicar to say it but not Corbyn

I don't agree with 99% of what Corbyn says or stands for but he has a right to say what he thinks and believes.

At some point WE the electorate have got to allow ALL politicians to do so, otherwise we will never get anywhere as a country. I respect Corbyn for the fact that he is determined to speak his mind regardless of the flack he receives. It will probably make him unelectable which is a condemnation of how we approach democracy these days rather than necessarily what he is actually saying

The papers are trying to undermine him, but it isn't working. People may not vote for him, but many like him as a person. The Tories are only going to reflect badly on themselves if they keep endorsing personal attacks.

I really like Corbyn, I just feel that he will struggle as a leader. He is an outstanding MP though.

I agree with him on a lot of issues, but nonetheless endorse what you have said.

I agree. I am a Christian too, David, and though I am centre right leaning, I feel it is entirely right for this government to be brought up short when it gets things wrong. For example, my faith informs my opposition to the tax credit cuts, as well as the fact that to me to penalise those in work isn't a Tory thing to do. I probably disagree with Jeremy Corbyn on nearly everything apart from rail renationalisation, but I wonder if his uncompromising sticking to principles has kept the government on its toes more than a more moderate Labour leader would have done.

its been said Jesus was the first socialist, so hardly a surprise he makes the comparison. though i have to comment on this: " 'Do unto others as you would have done to you' – that is the essence of my socialism, summed up in the word “solidarity”. thats bollcoks, the golden rule transends politics and religion, its universal in all cultures.

i doubt it, the excesses of recent policy have been reigned in by the Tory backbenches. they are the current serious opposition.

Most of those assets are churches halls and clergy houses. Why do you object to the CofE having these assets?

Oldham has shown what can happen if the Labour party get behind him (better result than Blair in 1997 in that by-election). The Oldham result proved absolutely nothing.

And if Red Ed can't win a general election, Jezza C certainly wont as he's even less electable. He is the very definition of everything that is wrong with the idealistic element of the left.

Oh dear - replying on what we read in Conservative Central Office propaganda sheets like the Telegraph are we?

McMahon praised Corbyn many times right from the moment he was selected to when he won the seat.

The media told the world the entire election was a referendum on Corbyn - that was until Corbyn won it, then it wasn't - then it was about everything else apart from that
