What the F*CK are you talking about Piers? :lolol:

Yes, their actions are impacting other clubs. Do you want them to stay 4 miles outside the borough so that Aldershot can keep collecting Chelsea reserve money then? This is feeble.

I have very little time for AFC Wimbledon and they talk about being a fan owned model, yet their actions impact on 2 other clubs, plus the loss of a greyhound track.

Not ideal for the principles they and others try and tell us is the way forward.

The impact on Aldershot is completely and utterly irrelevant. They are not owed anything FFS. Even Kingstonian's situation is a gross misrepresentation. I am, however, with you on the greyhound track but feel that they are only one of 3 parties to blame for that - questions should be asked of the council and the dog racing body who have let this happen.

Try telling Aldershot and Kingstonian fans that it is irrelevant though. It will impact on both club, but that is football for you.

As I say, I wouldn't try telling Aldershot fans anything because their opinions are irrelevent, IMO. They are lucky beneficiaries at the moment that theoretically give them a competitive advantage over other similar sized clubs. They are not entitled to that though.

Kingstonian is a little bit more complicated and obviously I do have sympathy for them.

Yet anything Wimbledon does seems to be fair game.

Why do Wimbledon need an 11,000 seater stadium for their 3000 supporters ?
This isn't a done deal yet. There are strong objections from Wandsworth council and local residents who would rather the greyhound stadium be there. The final decision could be Boris's.
Be a shame if the Last Greyhound stadium with a London postcode was to go.

A huge shame, also there is money available to redevelop the site into a modern greyhound stadium and hotel etc but the 2 local councils can't agree on the use, as you rightly say local residents would prefer the greyhound stadium to stay.

Why did we build a 30,000 seater stadium for our 8,000 supporters?

What a ridiculous argument.

Remember being at the Greyhound Derby final when Wimbledon fans were going round with the collection bucket to help fund their new club. Seems a bit ironic their now going shut it.

Can't Kingstonian come to an agreement with Chelsea allowing them to stay in their own ground?

It isn't their own ground and was sold well before Wimbledon came on the scene. Wimbledon bought the ground later and allowed Kingstonian to continue to play there on a small rent.

Wimbledon need to move back to Merton and have realistically helped keep Kingstonian going rather than the other way round. I have no allegiances to AFC (beyond randomly going to their first game with nothing else to do) but I'm glad to see them back down the road.

Their fanbase will grow. I'm seen more and more fans in the area over the last few years and they've got their identity back. Will probably take in the odd game when the stadium is built as it's a bus ride away but when visiting another ground always prefer the away end.

From a statement on the Kingstonian club site

The Board, of course, fully understands that some supporters will be reluctant to move from Kingsmeadow but the facts before us are that a 5,000 capacity stadium, that is expensive to maintain, and where, in future, we would be subject to rent, is simply not a practical option for us to consider, even if the stadium continued to be available for us to use.

Support for Chelsea in the Kingston, New Malden & Surbiton area is massive, alongside AFC, there is no way Kingstonian could ever attract enough supporters to ever be more than a competent non-league team. They are stunted & need a 1000 capacity stadium not 5000.

I bought a shirt from the club when they launched. At the time BHA shirts were a bit tight fitting so I went for an XXXL. The bloody thing comes down to my knees. Which is the only reason I never wear it.......

Bless them. I hope they rise up and tower over the nearby folk whose ground they had to borrow some years ago, whose name escapes me . . . .
