Don Goodman (Sky Sports website) gives up waiting for BHA to slide

His 'praise' is based on his stunning analysis, of something that never happened.

"If you analyse the amount of games they've been behind in and salvaged points, it's quite frightening"

Going behind in THREE of 19 games, and recovering, really isn't a 'frightening' statistic, is it?

I called him a 'prick', not because of his opinion of the Albion -which favourable or otherwise, he's entitled to - but because he's basing it on a lack of insight, knowledge or research, into the league that he is PAID to follow. THAT is why I consider him, Hinchcliffe and the others to be pricks.

Just like when (current French international and darling of the French media) Hatem Ben Arfa scored on his debut for Newcastle, and Alan Shearer announced on MotD "We don't know a thing about this kid Ben Arfa..."

Do your ****ing JOBS, you lazy, thick, golf club wankers.

Arguably, the pricks are those that pay their wages. The standard of punditry is so low it's unbelieveable. I assume the bosses at Sky, the beeb etc think that you have to have ex players as pundits but you only had to watch the World Cup and see the difference in insight between Tim Vickery and the usual array of "experts" that have "played the game at a high level" to see this is monumental bull5hit. There are a handful of decent ones (including Adam Virgo might I add) the rest are stealing a living. I would love to see the likes of Mike Holden and Mark Langdon given a go.

He's a waste of space. Listened to his summarising early season and started to reminisce about the halcyon days of Andy Townsend.

"He'll be disappointed with that".

Totally. There is definitely a place for knowledgeable ex-Pros, but only if they are prepared to actually do some research to earn their money. Ideally a mix of (decent) ex-Pros and knowledgeable journos. The difference in KNOWLEDGE between the likes of Shearer and Goodman, and the likes of Guillem Balague and Rafi Honigstein, is massive. The insight the ex-players can add, of the inside of the changing room, only goes so far, IMO.

That's something that BT Sport gets right with the likes of The European Football Show which is basically Football Weekly but with video highlights

He hasn't 'analysed' them very closely. We've been behind at ANY time, in a grand total of TWO games all season (Cardiff and Charlton).

Goodman is one of many absolute pricks, stealing a living off Sky.

Wow! I've seen it all now on NSC, slagging of those that praise us. Priceless!

Yes, he'd be the perfect replacement for when Alan Shearer gets fed up with his free golfing holidays, sorry I mean "expert World Cup punditry".

Commentator: "So Switzerland v Togo, Alan. What sort of game should we expect?"
Shearer: "well we don't know much about Togo"
Everyone else: "WELL WHY THE **** NOT? You're being paid to tell us, not to go playing golf with Lineker you lazy ****stick".

Except I'm NOT 'slagging him off FOR praising us', am I? I'm slagging him off for knowing jack shit about the league he is supposed to be an 'expert' on.

And let's be honest here - he isn't saying "Brighton are a genuinely good side" is he? He's saying "I have to CONCEDE that Brighton are doing well, which surprises me given that I haven't even heard of half their players, because I'm lazy and stupid"

I bracket him along with that other so-called pundit Beagrie - neither of them have ever had any time for us so why the **** should we have any time for them.

Still priceless, I wish I had some tits to laugh off.

One of the problems with the Premier League being such a big animal is that there are very few pundits who know the Championship in detail. Consequently, most of these "experts" like Lawro and Goodman form opinion based on which team are biggest, the top scorers chart and probability.

Was there one pundit who predicted before the start of last season that Bournemouth would get promoted? And how many pundits trotted out the cliché that you can't get promotion without stability, then watched Watford get through 4 managers and reach the Prem?

There are far too many pundits earning an easy living who don't do their research into what is going on. The likes of Guilleme Balague and Gary Neville clearly do put in a lot of hours and deserve what they get, but dozens are winging it.

As someone who doesn't get Sky but has watched plenty of it over the years, they've always seemed too obsessed with using former players as broadcasters, irrespective of how good they are. Presumably their thinking is that a gormless Sky punter (if such a thing existed) will recognise them and think "I remember him playing, wonder what he's like as a pundit?". All very glossy, very superficial.

Claridge was a good pundit whatever people thought of him. Miss him now, knew his stuff generally.

Prick is one of my favourite insults at the moment, it feels quite retro, I seem to be using it more and more............its clearly an insult but not too insulting to the object of my frustrations.

He and Rosenior on the BBC's Football League Show were terrifically knowledgable, all the way down the divisions too. Bet they earned a lot less than these airheads taking the Murdoch shilling.

I agree with that, he certainly gave a sh1t about the non-Prem echelons.
