And depressingly it's not the top story on the BBC ..... I guess it's not a European country !
Completely untrue on the bbc app it's top.

Exactly - Interesting to say how many Malian flag infused pics we see over the days from those Facebook heroes who change the world by updating their profile.....

How many people have visited Mali or feel close to Malians culturally? It's about connection. All life is equally important. I bet if you are from Brighton you'd find a killing from there more interesting or relevant than one somewhere in south America or even Eastbourne.

Interesting comment on Sky News (from a local expert of some sort - didn't get detail) - believes it is nothing to do with IS as they aren't active/present in Mali, but very much more likely to be local radicals (he said there were 4 or 5 sepaarte such groups) with loose ties to Al Qaeda

You seem somewhat critical of people who are just expressing their sympathy, seems rather unneccessary

"Facebook heroes", like you i realise that i can not "change the world " by infusing a pic, just showing support. So sneer all you like, a sad post.

IS will be defeated just as all tyrannical fascists are eventually. There will unfortunately be many deaths, futile gushing displays of grief and sympathy, and right wing ranting bollocks before it's all over.

RIP those who lost their lives in Mali.

It would appear that the three dead are the gunmen.

The Malian Security Ministry has announced that three of the gunmen who seized the Radisson hotel in Bamako have been killed so far during the ongoing operation by security forces, independent Malian site Abamako reports.

The gunmen are reportedly heading for the roof of the building.

I would imagine that the Daesh and Al Qaeda franchises are competing for media attention and trying to outdo each other. Both want to own the rights to Islam and they are both going through a proactive recruitment drive.

Although Al Qaeda are pretty much a busted flush these days.

It's interesting to see the difference in reaction to cynicism of people being upset en masse by terrorism, by celebrity death, and by racism/homophobia etc.
