He's from Langley, Virginia. Home of the CIA. And his 'name' is a well-known disputed part of the Middle East.

Must be some sort of undercover agent. First we sign two Israelis, now this.

I'm surprised this has been allowed to happen. I thought players under the age of 18 were not allowed to move country due to Fifa laws? Or am I completely mistaken?

Fifa banned under 18's moving countries in 2011. However U18's can move to another country if their parents are moving for non footballing reasons. So as per The Argus it sounds like his parents are moving here and he's been on trial with a few clubs as he will be moving with them.

Good stuff, keep em coming

Not a fan, nothing against any of the lads that come from abroad but it is a clear case of the recruitment department justifying their positions.

I dont believe we are upscaling the quality of our academy in the slightest, recruiting Irish, Icelantic and Americans, with a Scots lad with some spurious link to Real Madrid seems to turn you lot on, but the reality is that the very best that those countries have to offer have already been signed by the big clubs, we end up with sloppy seconds.

In reality we are likely to be recruiting similar talented youngsters than the local talent that will inevitably get squirted out, if you dont care then you dont care, but ultimately the real magic bullet of academy progress is development, I cannot be sure but there doesnt seem to be loads happening, progression of certain players isnt necessarily development.

If you care to watch the academy leagues, youth and under 21's then I suspect we will end up middle or below average, probably lower than what was being achieved a decade ago, the real test being the FA youth cup something that has not delivered a single win since the new academy was built, whilst we achieved an unprecedented quarter final place back in 2006 with primarily Sussex based youngsters.

So whilst it seems quite exciting recruiting from further a field, players with an embellished CV, I fear the results will be average whilst local talent is casually ignored.

Name me some Sussex players who should have been given a chance then?

Anyone that have a similar talent to those that have been recruited from out of the area, of course.

Firstly you would have to accept that those being recruited are no more than 'good' players, these are not German, Spanish, Italian internationals and again I dont wish to be negative to those youngsters, good luck to them its just a comment on recruitment generally.

Ok but lets say previously our scouting network was redced to the UK Pre-Bloom, how well did that do us in producing local talent. Its not as if we were constantly bringing through players from Sussex and turning them into championship/Premier league players.

We will continue to give chances to local players, however we will also be looking to compete with the best talent in the united kingdom Ireland and Europe, I really can't see how this is a negative.

There is no one with similar talents (thats known about) in Sussex that havent signed for other clubs, otherwise we would pay the taxi fare from Henfield not fly people in from around the world, the academy doesnt waste money with the sole intent of undermining local lads.

Munkfish, I have read a few of your posts on youth development and you seem to care and be close to it, but we are absolutely not competing with the best in Europe (once again not wishing to be disrespectful to those current youngsters) we are engineering recruitment for similar talented youngsters that has always resided in Sussex, I do not have a vested interest here, no Son overlooked.

We havent won a single FA youth cup game, the real test since the new set up was introduced, previous teams have done better thats indisputable and with general local youngsters.

I hope it all works out but keep an eye on the leagues and although they cannot be the only factor to gage success, if we are not making massive strides with those drafted in then at least have a local based policy, if possible.

I think we need to give it at least another 10-15 years to bed in and start showing results. Very, very, very, very, VERY early days.

Whats early days about out youth policy, its been with us since the late 70's, just because we have new buildings doesnt follow that player recruitment is anything new.
