Has a 5 day test ever finished after day 2 - does anyone know? Potentially, could happen today - amazing stuff. Shame for the people with tickets for 3, 4 and 5 though....

The shortest Test Match was Australia v South Africa in Feb 1932. It was completed in just under 6 hours. South Africa scored 36, Australia 153, and SA 2nd innings 45. A bowler called Ironmonger took 11-24 for Oz.

No one wants to mention that Anderson is injured and out for the rest of the series.

Hopefully we will be chasing a winning target of under 100.

Should be. Two fresh fast bowlers first thing tomorrow morning, and all dangerous Australian batsmen - the ones that can move the score on by 50 in 8-9 overs - already removed.

These are two poor batting sides. With the lack of class bowling world-wide, certain players are building reputations that they don't deserve. Wouldn't you just love to be a decent swing bowler in this era. Most of these guys have no judgement what to play and what to leave. Just put it in the slot, outside off-stump and they chase it every time. No plan to build an innings. Just crash, bang, wallop cricket. Poor attitude, lack of technique and lack of temperament.
Bang average cricket that is a smear on the great name of the Ashes.

Has Geoff Boycott hacked your NSC account?

Personally, I love watching England giving the Aussies a damn good hiding! No doubt, England will get another good hiding before this series is through.

It is an interesting point re proper batting in Test Matches, but England tried that and we were bloody awful. There is still a place for it (see Mr Cook) but I much prefer the more attacking brand of batting that we are seeing. "Proper" batsmen like Mr Boycott would bore the modern day Test Match audience to death (if there was an audience left) as indeed they did back in the their day (who remembers Statto running on the pitch with a stool for Chris Tavare?).

Am not sure how you can say that England's leading wicket of all time has a reputation he does not deserve. He has played against and been successful against the best batsmen of the modern era.

A thumbs down for that? WTF ? ? ?

The young Miss Bracknell and her chap have just arrived in Birmingham with tickets to watch two days worth of cricket. Short of the Aussies putting up a ninth wicket stand of 250, they are going to be very disappointed. A thumbs down seems a fair verdict to me.
