I'm sorry but when you are in a relegation battle players like Paddy are a luxury.

I live watching him going on his mazy runs like anyone but so far we haven't scored as a result, but how many have we conceded from having a lightweight player on the pitch.

You seem to be basing your point on the argument that because people started raving about him after a couple of cameo appearance where he had a couple of trademark runs, that it somehow disproves the idea fans have gotten carried away over their praise for him.

I'm not suggesting that fans didn't get a bit carried away about Paddy - I'm saying that it happened organically rather than being the result of some pervasive pre-existing "myth" that they'd unthinkingly bought in to... most fans knew **** all about him and were just reacting to what they saw on the pitch

Anyway, its clear that there's a basic split between those who believe that Paddy can bring us something special and those that don't...lets just beg to differ and get on with supporting our team

Thought he played well at White Hart Lane. Disciplined performance and defended well. He seemed the only player capable of keeping the ball for more than 2 seconds. I can't judge him otherwise as he hasn't started and had a run of games to justify forming any other opinion. Would like him to play four or five games for an hour to see if he could help the team get out of a rut. No-one can be expected to come on as sub and try retrieve a game each week, he's in a position then where he has to take risks and be labelled inconsistent or a liability for giving the ball away. As for Barnsley he was a regular for Flitcroft and Melon before Wilson dropped him completely. I'd say at this stage he's probably fed up not getting a chance, with the likely result is he wont be giving 100% in a development squad game.

I don't know if I disagree with you on Paddy or not, yet. I don't think we've seen enough either way to decide. I don't see why people are raving about him, yet, but I think it's too early to write him off.

He's a long long way from being all that. If we were in league one I might excuse people getting excited about him but this is the championship for crying out loud and we simply can't be carrying someone like him through games.

He's another waste of wages here, yet another sad indictment to our shambolic transfer policies this last 6-12 months. Just add McCourt to the ever-expanding scraphead of utterly pointless players this season consisting of Agustein, Holla, O'Grady, Teixeira, Toko, Halford, Al-Habsi....

We've sold the family silver, and replaced it with tupperware. You reap what you sow, and shite like McCourt, led by the monotone dronings of Hyypia, will not be saving us from L1. Drastic action is needed by TB, and soon. But I fear he's painted himself into a corner here, and will be too stubborn to act.
