One of my cards was rejected at the turnstiles. The nice steward there promptly checked it on his handheld thingy to make sure it was a valid season ticket, wrote down the number, and let me inside the ground. Easy. Looks like he'd done the same for quite a few people.
Just to put this in perspective for you.
£4.20 is more than EVERY Premier League ground last season, for a pint.
Our pies are also more than every other football ground in the Premiership.
Yet you still feel you're getting very good value?

It's still in keeping with local prices, so yes, it's good value for a sporting venue

How on EARTH is a pint, which costs more than EVERY single Premier League club (including those based in London, a more expensive area than Brighton), good value. Compared to football grounds, it is not remotely good value.

As for value for money, it is expensive but then so is everything in the South East. If you are going to compare our prices then do it with the London clubs rather than the northern ones.
The date on the story is March 2013 that's over a year old and not last season. It would be better for you to put this seasons prices for the premiership, or what is the point in comparing?

Checked one club in London and there prices are dearer for booze(Arsenal)

They're the most up to date figures available.
Taking those figures, a pint is more expensive at the Amex than every single London club, (bar Fulham, with whom we are level). That's comparing with a more expensive location than Brighton, and given those are Premiership grounds, one would expect to pay a premium.
The closest Championship club, Charlton, charge £3.35.
Ah ha, but they're not 'Premier League Ready' are they?
I find those prices very hard to believe. It was £4.50 for a pint at Stoke 3 years ago.

We were in Dick's Bar yesterday lunchtime when a bunch of SW fans came in. I actually felt sorry for the guy who was lumbered with quite a hefty round that included many beers and some pies. I noticed he soon ignored the notes in his wallet and reached for the credit card. OUCH.

My local bar Harvey's £3.50 in a glass and not bright Beer. I will still buy at the ground as long as they get the service right.

Meal Deal £6.50 any pint and Burger and Chips or 25% of main menu and chairs and tables to sit at and staff who know how to pour a pint.

Call me misguided, but l honestly don't have too much of a problem with the price of food and drink at the Amex. Ok the prices are a little bit more expensive than you might expect to pay in your local pub. But isn't that always going to be the case at sporting venues?
Similarly with the transport arrangements, l don't have a problem at all really. I travel to games by public bus, arriving at the Amex on a 25, which drops we in Village Way an hour or so before kickoff, and l return by NWSS coach, which admittedly has to wait a short time before being allowed to leave the coach park. But when you have the best part of 30,000 fans all wanting to leave the ground at once, delays are always going to occur, however well organised things may be. Just have some patience!

What was going on at Brighton station pre-game (about 2 o'clock), lots of barriers being put up by station/security staff only to then take them down and move everything around. Lots of people making jobs for themselves (and in turn trying to justify their wage) without really knowing what they were doing, was strange.

For some of us, much as we want to support our team and enjoy the football, it does not rule our lives. I like to turn up close to kick-off time, watch the match and then go home to spend the rest of the day in whatever way I choose. That's worked perfectly well for the last fifty-seven years and I've no desire to change things.

I got to the station just after 2pm and the queue was a right mess. People were queuing onto Queens Road outside of Budgens which was impacting on other people trying to get out of the station. To be fair, the BT police at the back of the queue were doing a good job in keeping people out of the road and it moved quite quickly.
The biggest problem was people coming out of the station, looking at the queue going down the road and then pushing in by the taxi rank. If they had used barriers this wouldn't have happened.
What didn't make sense was, having shut the taxi rank down, not using the space there as the queuing area. Loads of empty space, keeping people in one place, not affecting non-football passengers or the traffic.
The Transport Manager says they will review the new arrangements with Southern and the police so will be interesting to see what changes for the Bolton game.
