Here's a profile of him earlier this year from the Belfast Telegraph..
"Why can't darling of the Kop Paddy McCourt make grade at club level?"

He's got a swagger that gets fans off their seats and skills that simply take your breath away. Pretty much every goal he has ever scored has been Goal of the Season material and YouTube is full of clips of his stunning finishes – one in particular has over 250,000 hits.

One manager once described him as 'undroppable' but sadly that is what most bosses have done to the enigma that is Paddy McCourt.

And now, less than three years after he gave one of the most memorable individual displays by any Northern Ireland player at Windsor Park, McCourt is searching for a new club after being released by Barnsley following their relegation from the Championship.

Different player to Orlandi, He can create something out of nothing by running at payers: Orlandi was more of a Beckam type imho, makes himself half a yard and creates chances with his long ad short passing.

I'd bloody love to have McCourt down here and am really surprised he's still looking for a club.

Brighton factually.....
Seems he is a free agent having been released

Is that due to wages ? or as no one else seems interested "yet" we are scrapping the barrel and having a root around in the freebies at the moment, if that is case due to him being a free I cannot see that we have been tracking him or he was ever a first choice target.

Would be a great signing for what is just a squad player! Proven at this level and would be some welcome strength in depth having him come off the bench.

He is a very very good player on his day.
Consistancy he does not have. However he would be a good addition to this team. He is a player that would help us against those teams that park the bus as he can produce something from bothing and change a game.
Look at the current ablion squad. There are not many of them.

Could be perfect for the tucked in winger role behind the main striker.

These tucked in wingers worry me abit tbh. Kaz has the tight control to manage it but I reckon Buckley will struggle, he loves having space to run into and could find himself crowded out of alot of games or running into Bruno/Calderon.

As you said it could be ideal for McCourt tho.

Is that due to wages ? .

Yes. He was released by Barnsley/Danny Wilson as they were told to slash their wage bill following relegation.
He's "considering offers" . Various reports say clubs are interested but as a free agent then he can bide his time before accepting I assume.

His was one of the best inidividual performances I have seen in a long time against us last season.. inconsistency is always a challenge for players of this ilk, but you know you need them for a few moments that really matter, for eaxmple, to finish teams off when you are on top ...Vicente was like that..

I've heard we're actually after Paddy McGuinness.

What you mean is Buckley prefers to "run" to the corner flag when the more difficult option is to cut inside.
