Brighton / Hove actually
Fair enough. I wonder whether this is one of those seasons where we might regret not 'kicking on', assuming we don't sufficiently in terms of playing personnel.

We won't really know until the end of the season, and if it does go boobs up there is always next season and the season after that, then the seas............................ etc.

The only downside is that I and others may not live to see us in the Prem, but even then there will be the next season.

I think the hot weather is getting to me

Just got home.

There were glimmers of fluid, attacking and incisive play today but it broke down when we got within 25-yards of goal. I'm not sure we worked their keeper that hard, admitting that he had to make a number of saves - it's just that none of them really tested him.

Ince looked dominant in midfield but a lack of control let him down now and again, as it did many others. We didn't look good in the middle at the back, or down our left, so I guess we need time to be new players in until they know each other a bit better.

O'Grady looked our best player for much of the game, held the ball up well and created opportunities when laying it off pretty regularly. Fenelon was great chasing back and the first 20 minutes made it look like those two had been playing together for a long time. If that relationship develops they'll be our striking pairing for most of this season.

Casper made one good save but looked indecisive on some crosses, possibly as a result of the lack of coordination between Dunk and Hughes.

Too much hesitancy today and too much bad control. That said, I'm more confident than I was after the Crawley game even though we lost. We still need more players in but even with the squad we have, a mid-table position should be easily achieved.

6/10 overall. Room to move.

For me, everyone is wetting themselves over afew bad pre-season run outs in which we haven't even had our best eleven fit players playing together. If in worst case scenario we only get one more player in: a goalie (obviously gonna be brought in b4 the 1st game), we could still see the following line up:

-----------New GK----------
Bruno---Dunk---Greer---Chicksen
----Toko--Crofts--Solly---------
Buckley--CMS/Ogrady--LuaLua

If starting the season with this line up enables us to get players in at the end of the window and save some money for whatever is needed in January, then I'm all for it

I agree with much of that. Clearly there is still reasonable time to do further transfer business, so no need to panic right now. It's a pity that Toko and Stephens are injured otherwise I don't think Kemy would be anywhere near the starting XI. His errors and lack of involvement were the root cause of both goals conceded today.

Kemy's performance was then compounded by some poor defending. The ease with which Posh scored their rather soft goals was worrying. I can't say that the Dunk/Hughes/Ankergren axis looked very robust and a bit too vulnerable in the air. Hopefully Sami will instil a more decisive approach.

The positives were O'Grady and Fenelon. COG showed several excellent touches and close control, plus a nice understanding with Fenelon for our goal. Fenelon looked hungry for the ball and covered a lot of ground. Plus it was good to see Crofts back and he looked very dependable. Ince grew into the game too.

Posh played their usual high tempo style and opened us up a bit too easily on the break, especially when Chicksen and Bruno pushed forward. Both Chicksen and Hughes got badly skinned on occasions. However I'm mindful that it was a pre-season game and maybe we didn't give 100%. But then it was against Lge. 1 opposition, so there is work to do both on and off the pitch.

I wonder how our in/outs compare with other teams at present. Still, August 9th is the best barometer for such statistics.

"Today I had the worst game in my career but luckily its preseason and its more fitnesswise. Felt sorry for my teammates and fans today. Lets bounce back and focus on working hard to be ready for the season".

Judging by that list there's a whole lot of shite swilling about on the Championship, Bournemouth and Watford look like they've built themselves a good team. Put them a outsiders with Norwich and Fulham as favourites.

I thought we played OK, except for the defence. Against Partick we played awful.
Getting better. Feeling optimistic.

Put all those undisclosed and fee-paid transfers together -- none over £3 million -- and they probably still barely equal one £60 million Premier League blockbuster.

And look at all those 'frees' and 'loans'. It looks like there's a tinpot epidemic out there.
I didn't know Tony Bloom was such a slave to fashion...

They are different types of players to my mind....Stephens and Crofts are the engine room...Toko..maybe if fit...but he is also new to English football ...JFC still a tad inconsistent....March is he a winger...or wide midfield...whatever it is he's lacking in experience...Kemi? Well I haven't seen him since last season and he didn't fancy running much....which leaves Ince I guess....sorry but to me with Stephens out to who knows when I actually think we are lacking that type of player

We are lacking a brain in midfield all are too similar with no creation whatsoever. Plenty of workhorses but no crestivd skill

Really I thought he showed good feet on more than one occasion.

Yes, he can slip the ball from foor to foot very nicely - but those are skills a top class centre back needs, something Ince could become. At the moment he's looking like a mediocre midfielder whose development stalled midway through last season

Let's hope Oscar didn't make him a midfielder out of some passive aggressive protest at getting no quality signings from Burke.

Just spoke to a friend who went to Peterborough and asked him for the positives from yesterday and replied none other than ut looks like Dunk can and will fill the place of Upson other than that a very poor performance all round. What is the view of others who went as regards positives.

Are our fans "infamously fickle" ?
They seem to be very loyal and keen on football at the Amex with no signs this year that season ticket holders are any different to last years record 23K
If there's evidence that Albion fans are more fickle than any other club then keen to read it or see it if you can point me to any...

Average attendances - Last 10 years...
05/06 - 6,793
06/7 - 6,332
07/8 - 6,419
09/10 - 6,837
10/11 - 7,624
11/12 - 21,829
12/13- 26,024
13/14 - 27,110

Think you've missed a year in there somewhere...

there was some evidence of fickleness at Withdean, was very surprised when league crowds did drop as low as 4,000-5,000 level under Wilkins

Shame to have the same argument over and over again - to say these games are meaningless flies in the face of any kind of common sense, they are indeed glorified training sessions but training sessions are not in themselves meaningless either, they are the best gauge we have of players' current progress. Progress that could spurt forward or stall, at any time from now - of course.

The one concession I will make to the crowd on here hell bent on not wanting to discuss any football at this time of year is that I've rarely seen Buckley flying in pre-season in all the time he's been here - I do think he's a player very conscious of injuries, and alas rightly so. Most of the others, I think they are really trying but are finding it tough against lower standard of opposition we will be playing week in, week out.
