Glastonbury? :)

Possible, but unlikely - there'd probably be too many arguments between David & Roger on the setlist for a lengthy Glasto set :lolol:

I seem to be in the minority here but, for me, no Waters means it isn't Floyd.

Tend to agree, early Floyd through to Wish You Were Here was the music I grew up with so probably means more. Never liked The Wall apart from the stupendous Comfortably Numb and although Division Bell is good I don't think it's great  The later stuff left me a bit cold.

Anyway it will be interesting to hear some new Floyd, just a shame Waters won't be having an input especially on the lyrics. I find Gilmour's lyrics a bit wishy washy, his strength is his guitar playing and singing imo.

I really enjoyed the last two albums, and for me Keep Talking is one of fav Floyd tracks of all time. For my money it's Guilmour's guitar, which is so instantly recognisable on every track he plays, and yes, i really like Polly Samsons lyrics.

Agree with all this, after Animals it all went downhill very rapidly. Whenever I watch a concert on YouTube all the bland later era stuff gets fast forwarded. Still Atom Heart Mother is my favourite Floyd album so I'm probably not your average fan!

Final Cut...probably my favourite PF album, although it should always have been a Waters solo album

An incredibly moving album

Completely agree. Brilliant album and as you rightly point out, very moving. Especially when they reissued it with 'When The Tigers Broke Free' on it. Very powerful track that and i think more suited to The Final Cut rather than The Wall which it was left off of at the last minute.

Crikey, it's amazing how different people hear different things with music. That's not a criticism at all. Just for me, I hear it differently. The Final Cut seemed to be a re-hash of the anti-war parts of the Wall. I also found the Final Cut incredibly whiney and apart from that 'Floating Down Through The Clouds' track the rest is weak and guitar rock by numbers.

Wasn't The Final Cut more or less a Waters solo album anyway in all but name? I'm not a fan at all of Waters' solo efforts. The Pros and Cons album in particular hasn't aged at all well. Very, very 80s. Dave Gilmour on the other hand has made some incredibly beautiful solo music. His '78 album has "There's No Way Out Of Here" which is just so, so incredible.

He's also recently collaborated with the Orb and that is pretty darned good too. My favourite Floyd album has to be 'Atom Heart Mother'.

I thought it was just me who loved this album.
I have pretty much everything Floyd have ever done.
My best mate was seriously messed up by the Falklands war and the Final Cut deals with issues surrounding that period.

That makes three of us on this thread. I seem to recall reading somewhere that Floyd themselves never really rated this album.

Atom Heart Mother for me as well. I have all the studio albums (and will certainly buy the new one) and I regularly try and listen to Division Bell and the Final Cut. But I find myself wandering off half way through, kind of bored or unstimulated. I think it is the 'rock by numbers' feel, even with the Wall there is plenty of variety in the songs to keep me entertained.

Not the real one
I love the Division Bell, my favourite things about Floyd were always Gilmours Guitar and his vocals and Richard Wrights keyboard. Although I like some of the Waters led stuff, I don't like his later Solo stuff so I think musically to add Waters to the Division Bell wouldn't work.
Yet I would love them to tour with Gilmour, Mason and Waters and play the classics from time to time.

Atom Heart Mother came soon after Ummagumma which I believe was an experimental album to find out who would should become the lyricist. Water's effort was adjudged the best: so it depends on whether the lyrics appeal or whether you like the stadium rock band they eventually became, with an even bigger sound. Mind you, they once allegedly killed all the fish in a lake in the 70's.

Personally, have to say prefer Roger Waters albums. Meddle is my favourite PF album, closely followed by Animals, Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here. What makes them great is their ability to make excellent albums, so many bands are merely capable of only one good track and the rest is crap.

Their position of 51 in the ranking of that rag is a travesty and they are way better than many mentioned above them.
