Advice from the City Council
Barbecues on the beach
Sustainable charcoal
Of the 50,000 tonnes of charcoal consumed annually in the UK, 90 per cent comes from abroad. Not only does this increase the chance that tropical rainforests have been cut down, but it involves extra emissions from transport. Conditions in the industry are also not great for many workers. Sustainable charcoal is relatively easy to come by - several high street supermarkets, garden centres and local eco stores sell homegrown, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified charcoal, either loose in bags or as disposable barbecues.
West Wittering.
all sound, sensible advice and then they give you a little patronising lecture on charcoal at the end. perhaps they should extend it to advising you make sure your chicken wings are free range and that your wicker picnic baskets is biodegradeable. they dont miss a trick the busybodies do they.
The one a hundred yards infront of my house. Sandy at low tide and stones at high tide when it's good for swimming. Of course the best bit is not having to park and walking back is 5 mins if I need a cuppa or the weather changes ...
No mention of Brighton Beach then. I love the atmosphere on a really hot summers day- plenty of places to stop off at for a beer. everyone in a good mood. In total contrast that part of the coast Goring Gap westwards has some lovely areas.
Littlehampton.
Littlehampton.
Littlehampton great to take the dog for a nice stroll and swim.
Littlehampton beach across the river, I think it's called West Beach and it's near a golf course, there was a small ferry boat that went across the river to reach this beach, or quite a long walk round from a bridge that had 2 pubs at the end.
