I suggest a game of rock, paper, scissors, followed by chubby bunnies with a pack of marshmallows.
That'll sort out the wheat from the chaff.

I reckon all the candidates have been sent to a desserted island left to fend for themselves and have to kill each other. Ala Battle royale.
It would explain the lack of news. Expect Chuck Norris to be announced any day soon after he poisoned Yaya Toure with a piece of birthday cake.

Oscar arrived with a breakdown of the teams strength and weaknesses.
What's required to gain promotion.
A dossier on each player containing how each one can be improved.

By the end of it, he was interviewing the club.

You think (for example) Chelsea asked Mourinho or Man United asked Moyes to provide examples of how they'd demonstrated respect for diversity,

If they did, I expect Moyes would have said he stood and applauded them after their act at The Royal Variety Performance.

I would say though it is on of the few jobs where you can be constantly sacked for failure and yet still come smelling of roses and be rewarded with yet another lucrative contract by chairman chasing the dream.

I'm not suggesting that Dyche has done anything less than a fantastic job, but it is mildly amusing how genuinely amazed the Burnley chairman seems by something as bog standard as a PowerPoint slideshow. Have computers only just reached that part of Lancashire?

How do you know it was bog standard?

I suggest that Dyche used all manner of fancy Dan effects to transition from slide to slide, and it was this that truly wowed the Burnley board.

Good post. I've always wondered this. Surely for us it will be as simple as our budget is x and we want our youth academy to be central and we want promotion. Tell us how? Or if we really want them how much do you want??

I suspect this is roughly the process at all clubs that are looking at a broad range of managers. Probably a bit more like the pitch meetings you see on Mad Men than an interview you'd get at most jobs, the manager explaining what their vision is for the club with the resources, what players they'd keep, who'd they'd drop, how'd they'd play people, that kind of thing.

I would expect a candidate who is pro-active to do something along these lines, as well as discussing budgets and what they would do within the constraints plus agreeing the exact responsibilities of the role and the support staff

Ahh, powerpoint. The last vestige of those without character or brain......

It's just a tool it's how you use it that counts. Someone may correctly feel it's the best way to get their ideas across, while others may just use it for the sake of doing something

In the second of The Secret Footballer books he talks about interviews for managers. Can't remember the details but one scenario was something like:
Question: How would you improve our defensive record?
Answer: Well I noticed that you conceded x% of your goals from set pieces while the average in the division is only y%. Therefore I would change how we defend set pieces by......
