Liverpool's goals for/against ratio is better than 2/1 playing 4-4-2, and ours is fractionally better than 1/1 playing 4-1-4-1. IT IS FU*KING BORING to watch FFS!

That's nice except from liverpool don't play 4-4-2, they play 4-3-3 the majority of the time

Brighton / Hove actually
Just read on another thread that 500 Albion fans chanted this at Barnsley. Good on them!

Got me thinking how fantastic it would be if 27,000 home fans could suspend all other chants and do the same next Saturday. Would lay down our minimum expectations at this defining point in the season in no uncertain terms and is far more of a positive action than booing or leaving early.

Thoughts?

Agree, better than booing or leaving early.

As I said when you put in on the other thread.

Attack with what?

Buckley injured, Orlandi injured, Crofts injured, Ulloa off form, CMS only just back (and whether he is the answer I have serious doubts), LuaLua inconsistent to say the least.

But I also agree here.

i have just watched everton wipe the gooners arse for them and came on here to post something similar to this....you beat me to it ,but that performance and the tempo they play at is really something we should be aspiring to....that is all from me on the subject....i love this club but they appear to be struggling recently ....!!

Be careful for what you wish for.

Cast your mind back to the time under Mike Bailey when the Albion achieved their best ever position in the top division. Splendid display of defensive football, with for example 50 back passes in the first half alone at Old Trafford. Then the manager was told to abandon this and move to move attacking football. The result, the sack for the manager and the descent from the top division, as we went the whole season without a league win away from the Goldstone.

There needs to be balance, and the time to fully judge is with a fully fit squad.

With respect, that's complete nonsense. We are at the point in the season where we either finish mid-table or finish in a play-off place. It's a no-brainer. IMHO, like.

Will you ever get a fully fit squad? All clubs have to cope with injuries even Forest were complaining earlier in the season!

Thanks Greens :(

My mistake

Perhaps the maths might then point to us achieving a 3/2 goals for/against ratio if we played 4-4-2 ???

It makes me wonder why we even bothered signing loanees Paynter/Dobbie/Lita/Obika as there was obviously no intention of playing two up top

We could also revive that 40 year old chant "All we are saying is give us a goal"

See posts like this make me laugh. Lua Lua inconsistent? How is he meant to get any consistency when he never plays more a 15 minutes here and there. He starts once in a blue moon, and he has only started two games on the trot all season.

So attack with what?

Kazenga LuaLua would be a start. Or are we all meant to make out he's shit, just to defend Oscar?

CMS would be the answer but I agree he will not be, all the time he is played out of position.

Ulloa, give him somone to play with, he will menace championship defenders.

So attack with what?

Kaz
CMS
Ulloa
Rodrigeuz
Agustien
Stephens
Dave
March
Lingard

to to mention

Lita
Barnes
Obika when they were here

Not a bad list to start with is it.

Buckley
Crofts
Orlandi when they are fit.

Play to those players strengths, we would be up with Burnley.

Play them in a system they are not good enough, look in the paper and you will see where we are.

We have a squad to cope with a few injuries, we have a manager who will stick with the same system no matter who he has available.

How any more striking options do you think the club needs?

Its amazing any club will loan us anyone anymore.

Not only will we not play two up front, we will try and play them out of position and then wonder why they look shit!

We've taken a hot prospect from Manchester United, and are managing to make him look very ordinary.

you will have to get people to define "attack" because we, generally, have 10+ shots on goal a game. Is that attacking? Or is it the amount on target that is attacking?

You could define 10-odd shots as 5 that go for conversions 3 that hit the corner flag and 2 pass backs. What we need are shots that make the opposition goalkeepers work which other teams always manage against us even with our overwhelming possession stats.

Its just an excuse.

If we have a injury crisis and manage to still have players like LuaLua and Lita on the bench or not even in the squad, I would suggest its being over played.

We now have Orlandi, Buckley & Crofts out injured, who are likely to start (well two out of three of them) yet we are still shit.

The injury situation hasn't helped, but I don't think it has much to do with our league position or crap performances.

I keep coming back to the Ipswich. 22 shot, Oscar was proud and told us to look at the stats. Well I watched the game and saw their keeper make ONE comfortable save. Its the same most weeks

On the face of it he is very ordinary , Man United don't always pick wunderkids every single time , there will still be a few duds.
