Not sure if this sort of thing can be reviewed at the end of the game ? does seem wrong if he gets away with it.

retrospective action can be taken.

This result has left United in a seriously bad position. So along with Rooney and RVP out Vidic now misses 3 games. The retention of the Premiership is beyond them, out of the FA Cup, the nightmare scenario of meeting a rampant Man City in the final of the League Cup and only the thought of two possible easy matches in The Champions league to look forward to. Not only are they not getting the results but their heads have gone too.

The other week it was trumpeted that Man Utd were back.....but that was after a home 2-0 win against humble Swansea. Lot's of teams will now go in to their matches with United much more confident than they have been for years, this really could get a whole lot worse.

Pretty sure this rule was changed in the summer.

It was, but only likely to be used in extreme circumstances. Given that despite the dangerous nature of the challenge he won the ball and didn't injure the player, I think it's unlikely they would take action.

Agree with your implication that they will knock Sunderland out of the LC. No doubt Welbeck, Jones and Carrick will be hyped up to be world class the next day in the media, but look at their squad cost compared to moderate Sunderland's. They should be beating Sunderland every time with their resources.

Looks like they will have to go on a spending spree this coming Summer. Several £30m players needed.

Sir Alex will only be able to offer protection to Moyes up to a certain point. In the end the owners will pull rank and get rid.

It was, but can they 'upgrade' a yellow to a red?

Wouldn't the charge be "bringing the game into disrepute or ungentlemanly conduct" ? If found guilty they could impose a 1 game ban which is the same as getting a straight red card.

It would have been a 3 game ban. He should get that.

I suppose the ref could put in his report that if he had seen the seriousness of the challenge he would have issued a red.

He should of gone 100%. Was a terrible tackle.

Agreed but ref bottled having already given one maybe?

Commentator was talking rubbish-got the ball! Dangerous play, two footed, feet off the ground= red card. He is another one of the bad attitude Man U players who get really nasty when things go wrong.

Poyet getting to a final. No thanks.

Gross misconduct. Turning our best players head. Lying on National TV about not knowing he'd got the gooner.

Great bloke. Deserves all he gets. Hopefully relegation and dismissal.

Isn’t it strange, down here and fighting for promotion, Poyet was not interested in cup campaigns. Up north and with a premier league team in a relegation battle, Poyet decides the cup is worth fighting for; or is it the extra publicity that a final at Wembley will bring him?
