Am I right in thinking the train drivers are taking Boxing Day off?

From The Football Ground Guide

Parking at the ground is for permit holders only. There is street parking, but due to a local residents parking scheme, not in close vicinity to the ground or Charlton railway station. However as you come off the A2 onto the A206, there is some street parking to be had on your right, in a couple of streets, before you reach the Rose of Denmark pub. Colin Gilham informs me; 'There is some street parking to be had around the industrial estates in the area, in Westmoor Street, Eastmoor Street (the very road where the club was apparently formed 100 years ago!), Warspite Road and Ruston Road. If you are coming up the Woolwich Road from the the Blackwall Tunnel, then as you go past the ground, the industrial estates are on the left hand side.

Edit: Just remembered there is a Charlton season ticket holder in the office, his advice was: Park on Victoria Way, business car park sells match day parking for £5.00 just opposite Troughton Road.

Always been by train before - does anyone have any ideas on where to park paying or otherwise?

Parked somewhere on a slightly ropey industrial estate last time. Was about ten minutes walk. Car was still there and intact on our return (it's not Mogadishu, or Croydon).

No, you're not!

There are trains running from Brighton to London on boxing day (albeit with a bus replacement
for part of the journey due to engineering works)

Train drivers have absolutely no call on whether trains run, it's a decision that is made by
Network Rail.
