So you are saying that NSC allows and condones the promotion of cancer "cure" that have been documented as killing people.

I want to make a formal complaint about your attitude.

And really, such a public proclamation of wilful ignorance! Is it NSC policy for their mods to be ignorant ?

Sorry, I meant to ask a very important question, do you actually support Brighton & Hove Albion? if not, who do you support (football team please)

Also where do you live? just an area will do, thanks.

Yes, and when you explain what business it is of yours I might answer. After all, you just said you did not care.

Right, your formal complaint has been received, thank you for taking the time to call me / the mods ignorant, on reflection that's quite nice, far better than what I normally get called.

I have also received your recent PM to me, which I shall deal with in due course, in the meantime I shall deal with your formal complaint about me, in fact I shall deal with it right now!

For someone who cares so much for human life, surely you can find something better to do that troll a football message board. Why don't you go and do something more productive with yours before you are struck down by apricot kernels?

I am not entering into this debate to pick sides especially as I have been accused before of blindly supporting my buddy Bad Fish. However I can give some feedback on taking apricot kernals.

The cancer research website mattpenfold linked says

"Side effects of laetrile

Laetrile contains cyanide, which is a type of poison. So the side effects of laetrile are the same as those of cyanide. These include

Sickness
Headaches
Dizziness
Liver damage
A lack of oxygen to the body tissues
A drop in blood pressure
Drooping eyelids
Fever
Nerve damage, causing loss of balance and difficulty walking
Confusion, coma and eventually death

It is estimated that eating approximately 50 to 60 apricot kernels, or 50g of laetrile, can cause death."

That was not my experience.

I ate bags and bags of them about 8 years ago. I ate them by the handful, hundreds and hundreds.

At no time did I experience any of the symptoms they mention, especially death!

I would not say they are safe based on my experience but have found that not everything you read on the internet is the truth, pseudo-science or science, especially anything you read on Wikipaedia (I thought everyone knew that!).

I'd be quite happy to travel on a clapped out old banger if it provided the service I wanted.

I guess it boils down to me believing that a public service such as travel shouldn't be making exorbitant profits.

How would be firm making £40m profit on their bus arm qualify or need a council subsidy?
The interesting thing about bus subsidies in Brighton and Hove is that the B&H Bus Company aren't getting much income from council subsidy funding.

Councils are required to identify gaps in the local bus network, where no operator is providing a service. They then have powers to subsidise a service to fill the gap - but they have to do this through a competitive tendering process.

And which companies won the contracts the last time that the council reviewed the network? Most of the big contracts were won by Compass Travel and the Big Lemon, not B&H Buses.

My thoughts on bowel cancer and diet ... When my tumour (which, incidentally, I have named "Bowellotti") was first identified, one of the first bits of advice I was given by a Macmillan Nurse was to avoid a high fibre diet (which isn't what the NHS normally tells people to do) - so clearly the professionals aren't saying that chemotherapy is the sole treatment that is necessary.

My second thought is about apricots and the folklore that surrounds them. When I lived in Italy, it was in a place called Montalcino. The residents of a nearby town called Pienza used to sing a Tuscan dialect song about Montalcino. It went something like this: "Montalcino is famous for its apricots, but this year there aren't many. And those that there are are full of maggots. Everything is shitty in Montalcino". I've been wary of apricots ever since. Nothing on this thread is persuading me to change my mind.

Out of interest we were advised by our Macmillan Nurse to remove all chemicals from the house(cleaning materials etc) and go green on said things, did you receive similar?

and Coronation Chicken is a far superior recipe when apricots are left out

The strength of NSC is its openness to vigorous debate. This board has few policies, and - as Hitony has explained - one of them is to encourage people not to sink into personal abuse.

As for the accusation of the mods being "ignorant", this mod is trying to bring a bit of informed experience to the discussion.

And, if anyone is wondering why I am still posting at 1.25am, it's because a morning's chemotherapy - far from making me feel awful, as one of the apricot fans suggested earlier - gives me a few days of quite surprising energy. Things will get even better tomorrow, when I start a four day course of steroids, to supplement the chemo.

Please don't make this about apricot fans versus apricot haters. We can all live along side each other in harmony.

Good luck with your treatment, glad you are feeling good.

This is what my mother in law did, She already had a diet which was free from additives and chemicals to help with her asthma. Something which we have had remarkable success with the behaviour of my kids specifically my oldest with Aspergers, Adhd and anxiety (maybe we could take the thread in this direction??). She basically eats a whole food diet of fresh meat from her farm and veg from the green grocers (organic when she could get it).

Ok but i was interested in the advice Macmillan Nurses give regarding household cleaning materials, removing all the usual brand name cleaners etc, soaps etc and using only those that have "green" credentials

I think everyone would love to have this opportunity but its not that simple is it for the majority of the population

This wasn't advice that was given to me - and the Macmillan booklet I've been given doesn't mention it. I'm not a great fan of weapons grade cleaning materials or soap anyway.

She only uses vinegar and baking soda to clean....but she made this changed years ago for her asthma. We do the same as it was part of the stuff we were doing for our kid's behavior.

Not easy that is for sure. we found that introducing our diet for the kids was hard but once you have it in place it becomes easier. The UK is far ahead of Australia for the food additive thing, I couldn't believe how easy it was to choose additive free food when I was last there. Hopefully we will catch up soon.

All the best.
