I'm talking generally. i.e. "we're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen" (and what I really mean are phrases like 'why would X want to go to any club other than Brighton?", "Brighton are a far bigger club than X" and in relation to the post I quoted, "it is unreasonable for Gus to defend his reputation in court")

Oh, I see.

I'm not asking you to divulge your source - I doubt you could anyway. And a little precious on the insults aren't we, if you are going to go around claiming you are the font of all knowledge and can judge a person you don't personally know, judge their performance and be prepared to claim it as fact, based on the opinions of one 'senior' person, (who incidentally may be wrong!!) then you should understand that's going to get you shot at. In the meantime, grow a pair.

My 'pair' are fully grown! You, on the other hand, can't seem to take ANY criticism of the demi-God Gus.

In the SS interview he says he would have preferred a meeting.

If only they had scheduled one or two(?) for the week before. I am sure he would have turned up...

Surely Sky would have known this so why not put him on the spot and ask him instead of letting him beat around the bush and really not say anything new.

Brighton / Hove actually
You call that an accusation of 'Gus hatred'?

You have a WEIRD sense of perspective.

You can play with words if you want, but to say BW is damning Gus, could be interpreted as spreading hate, and hate has been used in this thread so there is a fine line of agreement which you appear to share with when debating with BW along with others.

So for arguments sake, in case I have got it wrong, how would you best describe BW's position on, or his intentions of his comments?

Not much point having a target that is right in line with expectations is it. Imagine the Yeovil chairman "You have the lowest budget in the championship, therefore your target is to finish last"

No, his target was play-offs (I'm guessing, but seems a fair assumption), but his budget was mid-table. He exceeded his budget expectations, met his target. IF his budget was top 6 in the division, then the target would certainly have been promotion. But you say he met his target, so I can only assume his statements about his budget were factual.

(I'm also a bit confused. Are these your opinions, as you say here, or facts from your source, which you state elsewhere?)

Target I know. Budget I have NEVER discussed with source. 'Met expectations' is my opinion (but I believe Tony's assessment also).

I don't really care about any budget ..........it was aimed at the continual slagging off of Gus by bw

Just to clarify. I have NEVER 'slagged-off' Gus' achievements AS A MANAGER. His public pronouncements, yes. His conduct, yes.

The lack of any rationality on this board is shocking sometimes.

Did Gus over achieve ? Don't think anyone can say with any certainty exactly what his budget was. I know there are figures in the public domain showing we had a midtable budget but I'm afraid the signings we have made over last season compared to other clubs really don't support that as being accurate.

And if Gus did overachieve does that mean we should put up with his actions ? Certainly not, and it had to be stopped one way or another. Did the club go about it in the right way ? Possibly not but then was Gus acting in an appropriate manner as a manager of our football club... No not towards the end.

At the end of the day Gus was backed by Bloom and he delivered on many of the demands that were expected of him ahead of schedule in many cases and that will never change.

My view is things weren't happening quick enough for Gus and he wanted to push for more funds or a better opportunity and his obvious lack of understanding of FFP and continued quoting of other clubs bigger budgets pushed Bloom to breaking point and something had to give. Under those circumstances he was always obviously going to lose and it's created the situation we find ourselves in.

The 'Poyet years' will always be looked back on with massive pleasure and success for me and I thank him for what he has done to this club, he was the right man and was here at the right time for us. We both helped each other achieve the supposed 'project' goals both the club and Gus had.

Very reasonable post.

In your desperate attempts to be heard, you must have missed this one:

Thank you for quoting me. That earlier post by me just about sums up where I stand on Gus. As I said, not 'slagging-off' his managerial achievements, but his media pronouncements et al deserve a good slagging IMHO.

At the time I was so pleased Gus didn't take the Reading job, seems it would have been better all round if he had.

The wonders of hindsight, eh?

:tantrum::facepalm:

For the last time, I couldn't give two hoots about Poyet or what happens to him now. I don't know him, never have, never will. You on the other hand have an agenda based on 2nd hand opinion.

And yes, your source (if one exists) has shut up for legal reasons because he is probably afraid you are going to land him/her in the sh1t for blabbing off.

This is all very true, don't expect those with an irrational hatred of Gus to agree with you though.

You are so wrong. I just did express my agreement!

symjym quoted you as not slagging off Gus - you slagged off Gus, he wasn't specific about what you were slagging off.

Try the pre match Arsenal article in the Argus where I believe instead of saying what a great day this was for the Albion told us how he'd like to manage Spurs, Arsenal and Leeds and talked mostly about himself.

In fact try most interviews when we played a big team

I may be wrong but I don't expect Oscar to tout himself, very very very few managers do this.

and this somehow makes him disloyal
it is called aspiration

so you don't know someone who is in the middle somewhere who wants to be at the top

edit............was he actually talking to any of these clubs then?
