Wouldn't it be great if they flashed up GOOOOOAL! in big glowing letters when we score? Eh? Eh?

It'd be better if you dropped the A

I didn't find them distracting at all during the Arsenal game, bring them on if it makes us more money.

I was worried before the game that I would find it distracting and irritating, but was pleasantly surprised that I didn't. If it means more money for the club, then it's necessary.

I imagine if we ever made it to a European competition (currently with Mastercard as one of its sponsors I think) then the Amex will have to revert to being called the "Brighton Community Stadium" or some such. I understand for the up coming Rugby World cup which a couple of games are being played at the Amex, again the term Amex will not be allowed to be used for sponsorship reasons.

Can't see it myself.
Why would American Express bother paying all that money to sponsor the stadium if, for some of the most high profile events, (ie Rugby World Cup and European games) they then have to "cover up" ? Surely sponsors of a competition cannot come in and arbitrarily dictate what the host stadium is called for those particular games.

Huddersfield was still the John Smiths stadium when hosting Carling Cup games (to the best of my knowledge anyway).

The Rugby World Cup has already been referred to as being played at the Brighton Community Stadium.

I do find that in the evening games, the light emanating from the big screens is quite distracting so it will be interesting to see what the advertising boards will be like.

Moan moan moan... With amount of people bitching about prices going up you'd think they'd would be happy that the club can find other sources of revenue that don't affect the fans.

Unless there are drastic changes in UEFA rules it will happen. For the rugby World Cup the stadium will be called the Brighton Community Stadium, or something like that, with no reference to Amex at all, wouldn't be surprised if they cover up all the Amex signs too.

The Carling cup doesn't have exclusive sponsors like the rugby World Cup and uefa competitions have

For FIFA and UEFA international tournaments, the stadium would definitely have the sponsor's name removed. I don't think it's a problem in European club competition though. Pretty sure that PSV's ground is still referred to as the Phillips Stadion for instance, and Bolton's was called the Reebok in the UEFA Cup.

Might be more about product type, MasterCard are (were?) CL sponsors, in which case, when we get to the CL, Amex wiould quite possibly not be acceptable, for the rugby, Societe Generale are a sponsor, perhaps they've insisted that Amex is not acceptable for that

I don't think we have to worry about European football for a while........
