yeh i got a lenovo thinkpad edge s430 a year ago off their site. great support and they have their own forums where you get quick replies on queries. its ok for gaming but runs really well and had no problems so far

To be honest I'd never heard of them before, but a friend of mine in the US recommended them. Apparently, they are used by government offices etc. over there. I paid a little more for it, but am glad I did!

its a Chinese company that bought IBM's pc and laptop business - hence why they are decent, reliable computers

Ahh...I didn't know they were Chinese. Whoever makes em, they make em well!

So we've collectively narrowed it down to pcspecialist, lenovo (must admit I'm surprised at that) and MSI (less so with this).

As usual NSC comes up trumps! Cheers all!

Look for something with the new Intel Haswell CPU and chipset - I'm hearing stories of stunning performance and battery life for gaming.....

Get a Razer, highly rated by professional gamers.
Known for their durability and nice aesthetics

They look great but a nuisance to get hold of as they're US only. The cyberpower one linked earlier in the thread is going head to head with pcspecialist at the moment.

Mananged to find an MSI with great specs, only downside is that it's Windows 8...how much of a pain will this be likely to cause me (when I'm trawling through folders etc.) as a gamer?

I've only ever used it on my girlfriends laptop and it strikes me as distinctly unwieldy.

If anyone wants to add me on steam feel free, account name is deletebeep . And then I will ignore you and just stare silently at the screen. You might get some amusement about the amount of hours clocked on football manager though.

Install classic shell and its just like using windows 7. I uses ninite which will install and update mltiple programmes at the same time whilst clicking no to the adaware toolbars etc.
