I hope that, if we sign him, we discover he has a mean streak and we can call him Dirty Den

There is a very good journalist who covers Polish football on Twitter (@Ryan_Hubbard) who tweeted this a few days ago. Probably where Sky Sports picked it up from.

Plus also we have Ulloa, CMS, Barnes, Hoskins and Barker. Is there a need for another striker??

Put the resources towards LB, CB and attacking midfielder.

I don't know but I'd assume this guy is not going to use up that much of our resources. He'd probably be on a tenth of the wages of CMS or Hoskins.

Oh do behave, at the very least it shows how far our scouting network ranges which will see us well should we ever make the premier league.

Scouting .... doubt it.

I couple of emails to every Championship club by his Polish agent/mate.

Recruitment departments are always wary of letting one slip through their hands, so they offer a trial if their CV is seen to have some merit.

We can't lose, why not?

We get a look at a young international footballer. If he's not good enough, he goes back. If he's good enough, he'll probably earn next-to-nothing anyway, and we get further backup for Ulloa and CMS.

Plus Maksimenko gets a friend. Football friends.

A natural goalscorer unnabbed by bigger fish i am all for. Hopefully he proves himself and is a strong possibility for the coming future. End of season loan out to Div 1, he bags a few and the first team's outline he look to press against.

2 of those miss the start of the season through injury, Barker won't cut the mustard in the Championship and Barnes is Barnes - we do need a new striker.

Besides, he is probably for the DS anyway.

I wouldn't have thought Latvian international players would need to be touted via email. This is the second Latvian youngster we are looking at, so it doesn't take too much imagination to think that we are scouting in the area.

I doubt it.

He is playing in the Polish 2nd division, it offers an insight to what his level is right now.

Wouldnt waste time or money with any kind of scouting network in Latvia, why would you ?

Irrespective of his ability he is an international and that offers some attention.

However if he has some good physical attributes and scores a couple off his arse whilst here then who knows where it might take him, goalscorers are strange beasts.

Spot on.

As I see it, we have two strikers, one of whom has a tendency to get himself sent off, to start the season with.

George Barker isn't good enough. He did nothing at Barnet, and didn't look much at the end of last season, and again on Saturday looked weaker than many of the Whitehawk players. Orlandi seemed to be playing in more of a role in behind Ulloa on Saturday, which was interesting.

Not sure you should dismiss Barker so readily, especially on the faith of an obscure Latvian striker from the Polish 2nd division, personally I would support and offer opportunity to one of our youngsters that have come through the system first.
