I've come back home.
Indeed. But part 2 of the e-mail certainly reflects the degree of antagonism between Poyet and Barber about how decisions are made by the club and not discussed with the manager.

For those of us who havnt seen it can you provide some edited highlights?

The most curious thing..

Is that the bit about the clappers - which is a seriously lower league stunt (not worthy of a Championship playoff semi), and rather silly. Balloons are a bit naff as well.

I keep saying that the man is engineering a position for departure. His legacy will be a cocked up play-off attempt against our bitterest rivals that we should have won. A waste of the best squad assembled at BHA for years. An automatic position chucked away through naive tactics and this sordid ugly public mess that will linger in the memory for years.
Three and a half years of good work chucked away through blind ambition.

Sums it up perfectly.

An under prepared team for the second leg, and a manager who couldn't be more disinterested, or more focused on a move away, if he tried.

The conflict here is obviously between Poyet and Barber... perhaps we should have a poll Team Poyet or Team Barber? (we are obviously all Team Bloom).

Good grief. The clackers, a poo and an email. What has become of us? We are turning into a Premier club without even getting there. If you're going call out stupid distractions in hindsight at least do it in style like having your team dropped into Wembley by helicopter!

Does anyone think Poyet comes out well in the email? He makes some very valid points. I'm sure the email is unrelated to his suspension, but there is obviously a lot of antagonism between him and the club - and in particular, it would seem, Mr Barber.

If the email is genuine then I agree with you. He is very interested in stressing that 'MY REPUTATION IS INTACT', but that's understandable I suppose.

Just thinking of the timeline here, if poogate happened before the game, would certainly go some way to explaining why he wasn't his normal animated self during the game.

Im not an armchair manager like some people on here but I do know that games are won and lost on split second decisions. The moment that turned the tie was Zaha's first goal.... he was on the left side being marked by Bridge.... who let him go... nothing at all to do with Calde on the right. If bridge had cut out the cross nobody knows what would have happened and you wouldnt be going on about this.... or if Barnes had scored and if and if and if and if..... let's stick to what we know.

Agreed ...Calderon in my opinion didn't do too bad a job first half of the 2nd leg against Zaha ..and as u said he cut in from Bridges side ..before that goal there had been a subtle change in there tactics for the second half ..Zaha played more through the middle ..it's no coincidence tht both of his goals were from central areas of the penalty area

Here's the transcript of the picture of the email from the Sun:

RE: All Staff Meeting - Today - Gus Poyet
Sent: 14 May 2013 22:09 To: All BHAFC Staff; All AITC Staff

Hi All,
1) ...when Crystal Palace players and staff arrived to the Amex and went into their dressing room, they found themselves in a very uncomfortable situation, for some reason that still no clear to me, someone during the day had had access to the away dressing room and done something terrible trying to upset everyone related to Palace, to say it in clear English, someone had a "poo" all outside the toilets, over and around the toilets.
Now, after careful consideration, and even after a meeting with the Chairman who assured me that MY REPUTATION IS INTACT, I feel that I must express my anger that anyone inside this organisation thought they could interfere with it. I am angry that someone within this club could endanger our good reputation and stoop so low - did they imagine that this would affect the Crystal Palace players - well possibly it did - it may just have fired them up even more.

Well someone made a very bad decision and I think it is time to stand up and take responsibility - not just the culprit but those employees who are supposed to make our stadium safe and secure. Surely changing rooms are high up on Securities check lists???

Surely someone should lose their job to allow such a breach of security - they do not deserve to be part of this club! ..

2) ... Would someone like to admit that it was their idea to hand out stupid pieces of noise making paper - can I tell you it was an extremely silly idea and the result was an annoying noise - I am not for one minute blaming the result of the game on this, but it added only negative vibes to the proceedings along with the rubbish filled balloons that littered the pitch. My team of players and staff have worked hard this season and I do not appreciate negative actions from others within the club...whoever you are you let the club down very badly.

Gus Poyet

However, below the picture the sun writer wrote: He wrote: “I would also like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to make sure that if you want to do something that can affect the game that perhaps you could do me the courtesy of seeking my approval first.”

Well that line is nowhere in the picture of the email

As has been pointed out on here, all club employees and some ex-employees have seen the email. It was a "reply all" to an email from Paul Barber. Barber then replied to Gus's email, so he obviously had no doubts that it was genuine..
I want to see the Barber reply :lolol:

See him and Holloway before the game. He spends ages apologising and saying "I am so sorry"

My emails don't look like that pictured in the Sun - do yours?

Looks like a transcript, at best, not the original.

Without having access to the original email, including all the detail that is hidden by most email-readers, it is not possible to even begin to qualify this as having been sent by Gus himself.

Emails have very poor security, and with only a little knowledge about have to create spoof emails, it is possible to make the email appear on screen as if it has been someone you know and/or trust, including yourself!

If you still have Outlook Express, for example, by selecting the Properties view, you can see all the control and routing info - the header info, html coding, url of pictures included, etc - not just the apparent name of sender, and the user-created contents.

A spoof does include the spoofed sender address, but also at least some clues as to the actual source.

If you compare, in Properties view, a known 'good' email with a doubtful email, it is usually pretty obvious if the doubtful one is not to be trusted. The Properties view is itself benign, in that no signal is sent back to the sender to show that you have opened the email, and no malicious code is triggered, such as might activate a virus or other malignant code.

There is more to the problem than I know how to explain - this is just gleaned from Google, wikipedia, PC magazines!

And anyway, at the most trivial, anybody who has access to Gus's email account could have just sat down and typed anything they liked!

How would you ever know?!?!

I agree with this. The issues appear to have been rumbling under the radar for a while. One can only wonder as to where we would now be if Gus had been fully focused all season and not playing silly games behind the scene, or allowing himself to be distracted by issues which to be fair are little of his business.
