Could only get tickets in with the Hereford fans. Decided that there was no way we could sit on our hands through the match as the atmosphere was really tense in the build up, so risked ejection by asking to be moved into the Albion end. The risk wasn't that great though as I watched a few people do exactly the same thing before I asked.

Quite a lot of aggro going on on the way back to the car.

WHAT a day!!!

Seem to remember we got massive coverage in the build up on radio 5 or whatever it was called in those days.

Left Haywards Heath at 5am on the train. Beers by the time we got to Balcombe. Mcdonalds breakfast in london to soak up the booze for the next leg to Newport. Half cut by the time we arrived in Newport. Then on the train to Hereford. We departed said train at Abergaveny. *******s wouldnt let us in the Abergaveny Hotel for beers as it was only 10am and we were all pretty well bladdered lol, So we sat in a pub and watched the lunchtime game, Leicester V Man utd i believe.

Christ knows how we managed to get into the ground at Hereford as most of us could hardly stand. I think during the game was the only part of the day I didnt drink.

Amazing train journey back home on the train. Most of it it being a blur.

Plenty of boys roaming the town centre beforehands, no problem getting a pint or 10 in the town and most pubs glad of the trade. Always wondered how it would have been if it had been us relegated and not them ?

For a start i am sure, with said amount of boys, amounts of alcohol and the emotion of the day it's probably safe to say that the arrests could have reached 100.

Then the years and years of sheer disbelief as we have to do what Wimbledon or Aldershot have had to,if that opportunity even presented it's self.

We did get great coverage. I couldn't go to the match and lived up north at the time. Radio five went over countless times and then played the last 10 minutes or so. I've never felt so nervous at a match or listening since. When the whistle went, I honestly felt as though we'd won the cup final. I wore my Albion shirt around Liverpool later on that day and countless scousers congratulated me and said they had been rooting for Brighton.

that game!!, went down on a coach, heard plenty went down on the train via Newport , went to ledbury before the game for a beer up, it kicked off before the game and after by the market , anyone confirm this as our coach arrived just before kick off outside the ground and picked us up at the same place, ended up in ledbury again, OB stopping people from staying in the town, not a piss take ,just after genuine accounts of the day

Our coach was stoned on the way in, just gobby kids.

After, some fighting in the cattle market, remember a ginger bloke you'd see at that time getting stuck in - was told he was fighting Cardiff, ginger and his pals marched off toward town after the skirmish in the market.

A mob of local Chelsea (West Hove), in our end during the game, didn't see them after - but got the idea they were there to see what transpired.

As few me, I got back on my coach and we headed home - Had a great night out that night, went to bed at 1pm Sunday.

The reality is there wasn't that much trouble. Given the occasion and the emotion involved, it was very tame. It was almost as if they didn't care as much as us! The following season in the cup was a completely different story. Loads of trouble at the Green Dragon/Lamb and Flag. I think it took their fans a trip to Leek Town to realize how big the original game actually was!

i was sat in the Hereford seats. Kept quiet until we scored then it came out. Half the stand got excited at the same time. i reckon that there was as many as us as home supporters in that stand.

when the stewards and police saw how many of us were in there they just gave up their ejection policy and hoped for the best.

A day to remember indeed, got my ticket about 5 games before the end of the season, when the bloke next to me on the north stand said he had bought one from Hereford. I had a feeling it would go to the wire, even stopped at a church on the way to ask for a little help as I knew if we went down it could well be the end, must have worked as that rebound went straight to Robbie's boot!!
