Gus has no idea why Barnes was sent off and he isnt happy. Will be talking and sitting down with Barnes to sort it out.

He thought the issues were behind him after Wednesday.

Even if it should have been in Barnes's eyes, STILL no excuse for FAOL

Definitely agree with this. I just find it tedious when people ask a question like 'was it a pen?' and the answer deliberately avoids the point of the question.

Having heard from Gus fair to say Ashley was a silly boy and will be dealt with in-house. Still don't agree with the overreaction on here, but guess everyone knew that was coming

Exactly, people slag Barnes off for acting like that - but then act like it themselves !!

What a stupid observation. Barnes is a professional footballer who gets payed more than nearly all our fans for playing 90 minutes, he should be able to control his emotions for that length of time. As for the fans, they're totally entitled to voice their frustration after doing it twice in quick succession and spending a fair bit of money to go to the game. Complete liability.

3 red cards in 15 months.

Sparrow had two and was never seen again!

Sparrow was in the squad to face barnsley after his second red card.

Actually 4 matches because he's been sent off before this season.
Correct. 4 matches, assuming it's a 3-match ban for foul and abusive language?

According to this:

http://www.thefa.com/~/media/Files/TheFAPortal/governance-docs/rules-of-the-association/section-a---field-offences-in-first-team-matches.ashx

Says foul and abusive language is a 2 match ban (section 8b, page 11). Suspension is extended for each sending off or period of suspension already served.

So, he will be suspended for 3 games.

Does anyone know what he was actually sent off for?

They said in commentary that it had been confirmed as Foul and Abusive Lanuage

About time someone was sent off for foul and abusive language. Let's hope it becomes a trend across the board (and the referees don't speak Spanish).

It would be good, but we all know this won't happen. The moment refs start clamping down on it they'll start getting criticised for ruining games, media and fans will put pressure on the fa/refs to let it go because it's an working mans game and there's bound to be industrial language. Sponsors will put pressure on because they want, for example, Rooney on the pitch etc.

Isn't this just a sign of that [supposedly] much needed commodity passion?

I think the ref should've realised he was just being passionate; not a big spoilt brat. Silly Referee - doesn't he know passion when he sees it?

4 game ban as well if the rules are clear in my tin box.

Im a believer he can bring a lot to the team. But the team won't be thanking him today. Let everyone down.

But he still has a lot to contribute. Hope he sorts himself out.

I think it shows how low the intelligence of most people on here is when they use foul and abusive language to condemn someone who got sent off for foul and abusive language.
:ffsparr:

Really? I think most people on here who are using foul and abusive language are intelligent enough to know not to be foul and abusive to say their boss or a policeman.

For the first time I'm starting to lose patience with Barnes. I will still defend him to the hilt as a player because on footballing ability, and tactical ability, he is still wildly misunderstood and undervalued by the Albion support. But his petulance is a problem; you need a player or two like him in a squad, with a bit of fight and a 'nastier' edge to them, or in games where it's a bit spiky or when you're losing you just get rolled over. But it needs to be a balance and there's a difference between going into tackles hard when needed, or standing your ground when argy bargy is going on, and the fact he keeps getting himself booked/sent off for mouthing off or retaliating when a decision goes against him. That isn't bite, that isn't ferocity or determination, it's stupidity. Sparrow and Vincelot (who I still think got unfair treatment from us) were shown the door for a lot less, and it's only Barnes' versatility and unselfishness (tactically) that is keeping him at the club now - he's walking a very fine line and I would not be surprised if Gus comes down on him like a ton of bricks. He needs to grow the f*ck up and see that what he's doing is costing us. The result today was not his fault, it sounded like we absolutely battered them from start to finish; but now with only one first-team striker available, who still isn't 100% match fit to play 90 week in week out, Ash has let everyone down.
