Holloway and Watford loans

I think that Ian Holloway is a prize idiot and treated by most as a joke but on the FL show he was spot on with his criticism of Watford and their using the league rules loophole to loan players from the two other clubs their owner also owns. As he said what would people say if Barcelona wanted to buy CPFC and play their reserve team as Palace in the Championship.

I agree with him to an extent.

However, I dislike the bloke, he is a media whore and now palace scum so therefore he can stuff himself and his opinion where the sun doesn't shine

I agree with him, however one of his most influential players on Friday was a loan player. Where do we draw the line (no more than three from one team?)

How is it Watford's fault when they are using the system to there advantage? Blame the footballing authorities.

Surely it would be more likely for palace and their zillionaire owners to buy Barcelona!

Totally agree with him on this.

I shall now refer to Watford as Udinese B, and wonder what they are doing in our league :lolol:

I agree with him. I think he just wants the rules to be the same for national and international loans. Also, you should never be able to have more than 5 loan players on the pitch at any given time IMO.

I agree with the majority of sentiments. Watford have abused the system and loophole and it needs to be addressed.

Holloway was right......

I think that there two faults with the rules from which the FL should learn and address very soon:

1. Allowing owners of a Eurpean team, as we are all now European, to also own another team which comes under EUFA jurisdiction.
2. Maximum number of loans should be a total of 3 on the pitch at any one time and no more than 1 from any 1 club.

The problem is that a change of rules requires a vote by the chairmen of the clubs and we all know wha ta gutless self promoting gang they are in general.

Out of interest, how have Watford 'abused the system', I don't particularly agree with how they have gone about it but loopholes in sport are there to be found and used for advantage. (This is is something that is seen in lots of sports F1 being a good example where teams find ways around technical regulations)

Considering their position in the table you have to say it paid off?

funny how it only gets mentioned by a manger after they dont win, eh? i dont think he has a point at all, nothing is being done against the rules. how different is it the "B" teams they play in Spain? just we do it differently here. the fact that he has a loan player he sold last week makes his criticism boarderline hypocritical - he's using a "loophole" in the rules too.

Out of interest does anyone know what would happen if Watford got promoted, did well and were drawn against Udinese in the Europa league (unlikely I know, but possible)

I thought the ruling was no more than 5 loan players, but when Watford beat us, they had 6 on the pitch. It was said at the time, that if they are loans to buy, they don't count, but who did they buy in the transfer window? I think Holloway does have a point.
