Bins Not Emptied For Over A Week Now ! Why ?

All through the little bit of snow we had the roads have always been ok to drive on in the day especially with a lorry that weighs tons ! i live in the BN2 area has anyone else still got bins waiting to be emptied ? or does anyone no why ? if they dont come until there next scheduled day ( mine is Monday ) the bins will be overflowing with bin bags , will they pick up bags on the floor because in the past i have seen them refuse to do so , as this is a council tax charge this is not on !

I find these days that, with recycling and composting, there's very little left to put in the regular bin. Takes a good three weeks for ours to fill up, so no problem if they don't come so often, especially in the winter when there isn't a big problem with smells and stuff. There are probably better ways to spend the Council tax IMO (education and social care for a start)

Erm isn't BN2 East Brighton, near the tip? Could always drop them off if concerned.
Strange if buses don't run, Refuse trucks are still expected to. How would you feel if a refuse truck chanced its arm up your road and slid sideways into parked cars? Your words 'roads ok' and 'weighs tons' stand out as a good reason not to.

Could be worse. Lived in the student area of Southampton a few years ago during a strike by the binmen that lasted for well over 2 months during the summer...awful doesn't cover it!!

Disagree Worthing Exile , if i didnt have to pay for this service i would gladly take our own rubbish to the dump but as i have no choice but to pay for this service then they should have no choice but to collect it regardless how many bags there are on the floor because they have failed to collect the week before !

Try putting your bin bags in a dustbin. I know its kind of cute and old fashioned but you will find that even the cleverest Foxes, Rats and Seagulls struggle with a well fitting dustbin lid.

Its simple really. The guys who normally empty bins have been diverted to clearing snow and ice.

Recycling and refuse staff are currently out catching up on collections. While some roads and pavements are still icy some collections may be delayed and we are working to collect where we can.

Thank you for your patience during, and following, the severe weather. Please leave your bins and boxes out on the pavement ready for collection and we will collect as soon as possible​

The bins out here in Firle were dealt with on Monday - about 20 minutes later than normal. Bracknell Towers is the last house in Lewes District, along an ungritted country lane that had snow still lying on the road when the bin truck arrived at 8.00am. I probably wouldn't have complained if they had given us a miss this week, but - as usual - Lewes District Council did a good job.
