I can go 45/90 minutes without a beer, but as an adult, I'd like to be able to decide for myself. Just because I can doesn't necessarily mean I will.

I understand your point. I just do not see the big deal. Same as the smokers that cannot seem to go the same length of time without a ciggie. Not being able to have a pint during the game really does not change my enjoyment of my day out.

The same argument has been used for and against smoking at the ground. If you can't last 45/90 minutes without a beer you've got a problem !

Surely it's not about 'being able to last', more about 'it would be nice to have the option'.

A chap who sits in front of me pours a couple of those little red wine bottles into a coffee cup (i presume he empties the coffee cup first) and enjoys it during the match. I can't work out if he's a genius or mental.

I'm torn here. I would like to see the law changed, why treat football fans differently ?

At the same time, I am with a number of people on this thread, I don't want more excuses for clowns to keep getting up and down, during the game. The sensible ones at least wait for a break in play. The biggest arseholes, stop half way and turn around when they hear a crowd reaction, blocking the view for those, who actually want to watch the game. This is probably a bigger deal, in East and West lower, where your view is drawn across the stands.

Would I be tempted to have a beer ? Well yes a meaningless summer pre-season game, I can see the attraction, the problem is in a 25k plus crowd there will always be some people for whom the game has no meaning, even if it is a championship decider against your local rivals, there is always someone who is just along for a few beers and a laugh.

Well, of course they do - who owns them? - remind me somebody..........

Isn't it Marcus Evans? I assume you mean it's to do with his corporate hospitality business?

Think no alcohol should be served during play. However you should be allowed to take your beer to your seat 1 per person. Can't really see that causing any issues.

Indeed, it would be nice to be able to finnish your half time beer at your seat rather than down in one after queueing for 10mins.

There was bovril and coffee thrown all over the place on Saturday - no one was expecting us to score so early. The kid behind me almost choked on his pie.

I too had a bit of steak on my mouth and so couldn't scream as normal. Instead squeezed out a "gllrmph" sort of sound and waved the rest of my pie in the air. f***ing Barnes.

I think that's the problem - some people would spend all their time during the match going to and from the bar!

Not if they still didnt serve alcohol during the game, the argument is, why cant you take your beer you purchased before the game or at halftime to your seat ?

It'd just be nice to sit in my seat and swig my pint instead of having to neck it standing in the concourse.

I wouldn't go and get another during play though, wouldn't want to miss anything.

Agree. If I'm cutting it fine and don't have much time between arriving and kick off I won't get a pint because I don't want to have to neck it before taking my seat. I would buy a pint if I could take it with me to enjoy however. This would likely be the only extra pint I'd buy though as I don't currently leave my seat at half time, or indeed at all before the 90+ minutes are up.

I purposefully chose a seat right at the edge so that I never need get up for other people who want to piss about during a game. This also means that were I to get up mid match I'd cause disruption to the maximum number of people possible, which I have no intention of doing.

People fannying about up and down all game long drive me f***ing nuts and I am SO grateful that my excellent seat saves me from all that shit

Exactly the same as myself and son, right at the end of the row and would cause maximum disruption if we kept getting up during the game. I've now instilled in him that the toilets are shut during the match so he always holds until half time now haha.
