It is a ridiculous law. If you can drink ALL DAY in the stands at a test match, then I really don't see how drinking for 90 minutes at a football match is going to cause any more problems than there are already. I would have thought you'd be unlikely to have more than one per half anyway.

Sensible and could easily be revoked for teams who don't control fans as a result.

Don't see the problem drinking before and after the match and maybe one at half time personally. Why can't you go 45 or 90 mins without a pint. I remember having various drink spilt over me yrs gone by when we scored for example. Just don't see what's wrong with it as it stands

I'm with you too, H. There's more than enough heavily pissed-up characters staggering around at the football as it is, so God knows why folk need more booze in the stands.

It'd just be nice to sit in my seat and swig my pint instead of having to neck it standing in the concourse.
I wouldn't go and get another during play though, wouldn't want to miss anything.

Problem is, people tend to down pints quicker rather then spread it out, a relaxed law could see more drunk over a space of time! But less people pissed! I've crammed 2 or 3 at half time before, and it hit me, but if I could take it out I would slow down

The only down side to this is that people would be up and down from their seats, mid match, which could get really annoying.
There are two individuals in my row who cannot last a single half of football without having to get up and (presumably) go for a piss. They are inevitably the last ones to get to their seat at the start, so everyone has to stand up for them then. One of them then gets up mid game to go to the toilet, then comes back, usually followed (but never at the same time) by the other chap. Then they- separately of course- get up to go for a pint a few minutes before half time, causing everyone to stand up again.
You'd think that by leaving their seats early, they'd be the first ones back during the half time break, but no. They are, once again, the last ones to reach their seats, usually a minute or two into the second half. Naturally, another toilet break is required on at least one occasion, sometimes more, during the second half, before they get up for the final time when the added time board goes up, giving the rest of the row one final opportunity to stand up for them before the whistle blows. The record for one of these individuals is an impressive FIVE trips from his seat in a single game.
So, much as the idea of drinking a pint in my seat is appealing, I would in all probability WEEP if these two were presented with any further reasons to get up and leave their seats during the game, whether it was to order a pint, or to go for yet another piss.

Similar where I am. Mr Red nosed piss head arrives 5 mins late. Leaves on around 35 mins. Comes back 5-10 mins into 2 half and leaves 10 mins early. He sees around 60 mins of each match. What is the point in that. Makes it worse that his poor 4/5 year old kid has to go with him. The guy looks bladdered on arrival FFS.
What's the banner going to say?
"Some drinks you can eat before meals, Carlsburg isn't one of them" - or something equally incomprehensible?

you can drink before and after, whats the problem. you'd need to be pissed to enjoy ipswich this year...
I can go 45/90 minutes without a beer, but as an adult, I'd like to be able to decide for myself. Just because I can doesn't necessarily mean I will.
