How to play CMS with Ulloa

I wonder if Ulloa will have to learn to play "our way" and tackle back.

Hope not. He should always be an attacking outlet.

This has sometime been the problem with CMS's committed chasing as he puts defence under pressure but leaves a hole where our offensive option should be.

CMS on the wing would be insanity. He needs to be near goal.

For me he's often been most dangerous harrying a full back and cutting in from wide positions. With freedom to go wide but cut in between wings and centre backs could make him a nightmare to mark

Hmm... Vicente, Orlandi and Barnes all already play that role pretty well. Not sure how it can work. For me, CMS spends most of his time running away from goal to the wings (which is why he struggles in my opinion because we look for him down the middle). Maybe a wing role would suit him better. Kinda like this:

CMS-----Orlandi-----Buckley
----------Ulloa-------------

Which could flex to:

Buckley--------------Orlandi
------CMS----Ulloa---------

Three of the front 4 would be more or less interchangeable.

And we have a winner

Watch some of the Peterborough videos where CMS scores time after time he cuts in from a wide position I can just see Ulloa knocking the ball down and CMS tapping the ball home and other times CMS drifting into a more central position with the wingers and wing backs filling the gaps

We'll play 4-2-4. In attack this could look a number of ways. In defence it will look like 4-5-1.

I'd play him alongside to get the nod ons, and to be the player than makes runs to bring defenders out. Then on match days I'd leave him on the bench. I'd have Ulloa (he's gotta be good hasn't he?), Barnes and Hoskins ahead of CMS. I like my goalscorers to have that natural goalscoring feel about them and CMS just doesnt have that.

CMS cant play in the hole, you need a good touch for that which he doesn't possess, he's better running the channels.

I think to start with Ulloa will play up front on his own in the current formation with CMS on the bench. If Ulloa starts banging them in/linking the play well CMS won't get a sniff of the starting XI

Mmmmmm interesting thread title "how to play CMS with Ulloa". Personally I think the best way would be to put both of them in the starting line up and go from there to be honest.

I would expect it to be:

GK Kuszczak
4 Calderon Greer El Abd Bridge
4 Buckly or Lopez Hammond Bridcut Orlandi
1 CMS or Vicente if fit.
1 Ulloa

So basically CMS plays instead of Buckley or Lopez or LuaLua for that matter!? Yeah right....
