Twenty years ago I reckon water or electricity would have won by miles.

But the new kid on the block Mr Internet is pretty hard to live without now.

Water, couldn't not have a shower for a week. Everything else I could cope without no problem for a week.

you realise that electric and telephone is required for your internet to function, and electric is probably needed for your gas to fire too?

Back in November our gas meter failed during a cold spell. Lasted a week until sorted out bloody cold but survived. So the utility you couldn't do without surely has to be water.

The most curious thing..
No water - no cooking, no cleaning, no washing, no drinking, no toilet .... bit of a problem

3 of them are all important, no electric and I can't cook, no gas then no heating, you can buy water from shops so that is do able, you can't buy electric and carry it home.

But then if you have the internet, that means you'll have electricity and a telephone, which you can then get a plumber in or someone else to fix your gas and water!

Would you use bottled water to flush the toilet?

Sex for me! When you have sex you don't need water gas or electric - sometimes with sex you don't even need the Internet!

Wouldn't use our toilet, we get on with our neighbours so would pop round for a "chat" if needed, I tend to do most my shitting at work, its very rarely I actually go at home thinking about it so wouldn't be a problem.

I'm trying to get a wood stove - I think it would be good so long as you can get easy to collect free wood but I understand if you can't you need to realise its a lot more work or more expensive that you think

I think the biggest downside of modern life is that you can't live off grid easily.
A wood burning stove is nearest thing you can get as it can provide heat and cooking - if I could invent or find a way of generating my electric I would and that would only leave the Internet and rates bill as I think you can get the water from a borehole.
