Had not seen this before as included in the club's pre match brief

NB: After topping up your card (over the counter or online) you will need to activate the cash by holding your card on one of the smartcard readers for approximately 15 seconds.

Ditto surely is should activate any top-up as soon as you place it on the reader, like an Oyster card as soon as you tap it then it registers the credit

When you buy something after topping up, it does take a few seconds longer. It's the same with a Keycard on the buses. You've probably been watching the pints on the counter to notice before.

It tops up almost instantly, I use auto top up for when I get below a fiver. But at Watford I had no cash and had £5.90 on my card, went to for my pie and pint but I couldn't as I didn't have enough credit and it wasn't low enough to auto top up. A kind gent behind gave me £2 to help out
