Two stories post on the website within the last three hours...

And I quote..

9am - Gus Poyet wants to give unsung members of his squad a chance to shine in the FA Cup.

But the Albion boss insists he will not be playing a second-string side against Newcastle at The Amex.

Poyet has hinted he will make a handful of changes for the televised third round clash.

1145am - Boss Gus Poyet has vowed to field the strongest side available to him in the quest for a repeat.

He told The Argus: "Apart from when we were in League One and convinced the only thing that mattered was getting up, in the rest of the years we were fair with the cups. We played the best team on the day.

"This one is tricky because it is on TV against a Premiership team, so you cannot be silly and not play your best team. We are going to play with the best we have.

Andy Naylor doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

Why blame the Argus ?

There is clearly a difference AGAIN between the Gus League is a priority vision and the commercial Let's maximise ticket sales vision. just don't be surprised by last minute niggles and injuries.

Your missing the point, The Argus have published 2 stories within 3 hours that contradict themselves.

Poor journalism IMO.

I read that as we are gonna field a strong side but as Cheeserolls has said any players with even slight niggles will not be playing, although they may have played if it was a league game

Is Gus seriously saying that the team he put out in the first game against Wrexham last year was the strongest team available? If he is, he's lying through his teeth.

Different prospects surely. That team against Wrexham, could have / should have done enough. Newcastle he can't afford to mess around too much, and he won't.

Be interesting to see if Bridcutt or CMS are allowed to get cuptied in this.

One is likely an off the cuff Gus comment. The other is the official FA Cup press conference, where he has to be a lot more guarded about what he says.

I think both serve a purpose.

Isn't this all down to the sub editors in Southampton trying to pump more news in , quantity instead of quality ?
