Should we have expected more from poyet?

Considering his past links with spurs and chelsea should we have expected a little more business in the form of signings and loan signings from these clubs?
Liam Brady seemed to make the most of loan signings from Arsenal when he was albion manager.
Anyone get the feeling there's not much good will out there for gp????

Or maybe it's just because Spurs & Chelsea players are all on such astronomical wages, that the few decent youngsters that aren't earning the earth are the subject of bunfights between half the Championship clubs, whereas back in Brady's day, there wasn't such a gulf.

Besides: not all players with Premier League backgrounds are any use. Joe O'Ceauruill and Gavin Hoyte both came from Arsenal and were amongst the crappest I've ever seen for the Albion.

It is a bit strange he never got anyone from Chelsea when Di Matteo was in charge.you would think we would be in an ideal situation to take some decent young players with the set up we have and the short distance.
I thought we might get josh mceachran but he went all the way to Boro.

McEachran seems to be one of these players who spends half his career getting loaned around clubs in the Championship and never particularly tears up trees at any one, a bit like Henri Lansbury. Arsenal's few really talented youngsters are straight into the first team- the rest are Championship bench-fodder.

Are we expecting too much from returnoftherev? After all with his fund of useless and usually entirely pointless questions we might have expected him to come up with an answer to something somewhere along the line.

I thought he would've used some of his connections to bring in some youth teamer from Spurs or Chelsea here, Bridcutt is the only one I can think of.
It shows the strength of our development set-up that he hasn't really needed to.
The same with Leeds, I am very surprised we don't have any ex-Leeds on our books.

He didn't bring in Bridcutt from Chelsea as he had been already released and was looking for a club. We took a gamble on him.

Or that the ones at those clubs that are available to loan or buy just arn't any better than what we already have?

These clubs seem to take on hundreds of youngsters for their academies but hardly any of them actually make it in the professional game, especially at Championship level or higher.

Didn't Ray Wilkins recommend Bridcutt to Gus and told him to get him quickly as he was about to join Torquay, so there was a Chelsea connection.

The irony is that if he'd been Forest manager he'd have been sacked by now! Be careful what you wish for.
