OK first time I have ever posted a rumour on here!!

Chatting to the chap who I get the train to The Amex with every week (a good friend) who has an 'in' with some one senior-ish at the club and he said he'd been told that Austin was 'On the radar' with regards to the January window.

Thats is all I have and nothing else to back it up with.

As you were...

I should think he is on most Championship teams radar as well as a few from the Premier , anyone who is top goal scorer will be . Thanks for the info though !

Would love it if it happened, but although he'll be off in January, I cant see him coming here.

I can see a club like Reading, Saints or QPR taking a chance in the Prem League. It makes sense for them as if he can cut it in the PL and scores the goals to keep that club up, then great for both. If he cant score enough goals (or they simply let in more), then if they go down then they have a ready made striker who can goals in the Champ.

Brighton will be outbid both in fee and wages. Although if he went to Saints that might mean Lambert sacrificed or if QPR Zamora? Now thats a thought.

Didn't Southampton splash out £8m or something crazy on Jay Rodriguez? Burnley would expect similar for Austin. I'm not saying he's worth that or they'll get it, but there's aoften someone with silly money out there.

The last few days of the January window are like the end of the World. Money's no obstacle when you're trying to get promoted, win the Prem or stay alive. There's no way that Torres or Carroll would have gone for that money in July.

I could see Leeds being very interested in Austin, now that they've been taken over.

It would seem from the Jay Rodriguez and Jordan Rhodes deals that the going rate will be c. £8 million, and I don't see the likes of Reading or Southampton wanting to make that deal. Similarly, I don't see too many Championship clubs with a decent chance of promotion and with that sort of money either, apart from possibly Leeds.

I imagine Austin's best bet might be a third tier Prem club like Sunderland, Fulham or Norwich.
