Just be thankful you don't live in the States. Near to me in Scottsdale, one police officer recently shot dead an unarmed man holding his 7-month-old grandson. This is the SIXTH - yes, SIXTH - fatal shooting that the officer has been involved in, with some of the other victims also being unarmed.

The police of course have fallen back on the old cop-out (no pun intended), of seeing "what lessons can be learned", here's some for starters:

1. Learn to recognise the difference between a blind man's white cane and a samurai sword.
2. Don't shoot old men in the back without provocation.
3. Don't treat all members of the public as your enemy, or one day they will be.
4. Don't automatically resort to maximum violence just because you can.
5. Stop handing out potentially lethal weapons to fools.

A totally ridiculous story. I can't even begin to imagine that a policeman would think a slow moving gent with a white stick would be a fast moving threat to society. Christ, get this guy off the force!

Mainly that the police have gone and done this to a blind man with a stick (i assume in broad daylight)
