I saw them years ago from the Drove when the Amex was just a farmers field. I think I saw on South today or somewhere that it was visible again.

You're at a high enough latitude..50º north, give or take...to have a good chance of seeing them. Light pollution I guess might be a factor. We're 5º further south, but much darker -- Maine woods -- and see them a couple times a year.

Quite incredible if it is, It has the look of them, but amazing it was not spotted by lots of people in such a built up (up light area).

Looking at the latest data, I'd say it's possible, but the field is very weak, and not quite over us at the moment.

As this page makes clear, the green line marks the limit of visibility of Aurora aloft on the horizon.

So, as things are now, it's up towards Scotland.

You is Tom Criuse in the future, where do you get all this crazy shit from, I imagine you have all the minority report hardware .

However does seem to scientifically back up my non scientific theory that it should not happen in Hove.

Yes, I am Tom Cruise in the future. :)

It does happen in Sussex, but incredibly rarely and only associated with very intense aurora.

Potentially, with the strongest activity, it would be possible to see the Aurora Borealis overhead in central southern France and on the horizon in Northern Portugal & Spain, southern Italy and through the Balkans into Turkey.

Well I am currently in a very rural and dark location in France between Tours and Le Mans, however its rained almost non stop so not been able to star gaze at all, also the expensive telescope that was designed for star gazing down here got sat on and is now bust.

Shame the i phone star maps I use dont have Northen Light spotting guides.
