Christmas breaks

Looking to go away for a few days a couple of weeks before christmas just a weekend. Where is good to get into the festive spirit, try good food, preferably a bit cold?

Have been looking at dusseldorf, any other suggestions would be great.

It is just for a couple of pals who like a good drink up

Dusseldorf is great in summer and I'm pretty sure they put on a good Christmas. There is an area which if memory serves me correctly is called something like The Amstadt, It's like a larger version of The North Laine, loads of reasonably priced restaurants and bars and I bet it looks stunning around the festive season. Dusseldorf gets my vote.
