Quite a bit of aggression from Burnley after the game, mainly homophobic nonsense.

Why do you feel the need to call Buckley a "useless c***" just because he lost the ball? 1-0 up and playing well and you shout that obscenity out?

You made yourself look very stupid when 50 people turn around to check whether a Burnley fan was in the away end. No wait, it's just a moron.

Some fans these days, eh?

What can i say, there are idiots everywhere.

Shit thread. Consider the posibility they've had a few drinks and maybe over did it a touch?

They travelled to Burnley to watch BHAFC, something a lot of us didn't. Respect from me.

Cool I travelled too. That means I'll call all our players cvnts. Sweet.

Did you say anything to him or were you just hoping that he'd read this?

No idea what he looked like or who it was, stood in a crowd and I was at least 6/7 rows in front.

Respect ? Blimey. They travel all that way to slag off their own players, just shows how stupid they are to me. Certainly no respect.

Eh? People slagging off players completely unfairly is part of the comedy of football. Wendy wilkins the classic example. Quality player but because he didnt run around and foul like a headless chicken some people used to give him dogs abuse. Always made me chuckle. Leave the fella alone, he has paid his cash, he can slag off whoever he wants, no matter how daft it is. We are not Newcastle thank God, we dont do embarrassing hero worship, well not as long as I follow the Albion.

liverpool game. a load of newbies behind me in WSU shouting how Barnesy is a ****. Turned around at them, they've all got that grin on their face.

you know the grin. The grin that some childish 'lad' twat with an overbite does when him and his mates think he's hilarious.

Do what you want, you paid your entrance fee...

Point is that they did it though. Every club has fans that criticise players, as someone above said, that's part and parcel of the game. I suspect Buckley didn't even hear the jibe, and I suspect probably wouldn't even give a shit even if he had. So why does anyone else??

Not the real one
Thats out of order because Bucks is class. However, I have been pissed at away matches before and shouted something at a player but got the wrong player and had fans turn and tell me to shut up. Its football, but then again someone should have turned around and told him to do one.

So how do you know that they only slagged off the players?

This is a stupid thread with some even stupider comments.

You can't take one comment in the space of an entire day and then debate on a message board about the merits of the people who made them. For all you lot know he could be Buckleys mate, or he might be a really nice bloke who raises millions for charity, or he might be a serial rapist........

We don't know, so it's a bloody waste of time discussing it a day and two days later. Either say something at the time or nothing at all, and whichever one of those you choose keep it bloody private because it's nobody elses' business.

Over and out

Could be that the bloke was just a manic depressive who always sees the glass half empty. There are certainly enough of them around at football matches.

Just ignore him, Buckley certainly wouldn't care, so why should we?

This is such bullshit! Since when did paying money for something entitle you to be abusive? Do you pay money to get on a bus and then start hurling abuse at the driver? Do you go to a restaurant for a nice meal and then start abusing the waiters? Do you go to the theatre and start calling all the actors useless *****?

Just put it down to a lack of intelligence. We've got plenty of 'fans' who fit into that category.
It gets dressed up as an opinion, but at the end of the day, some fans are just not all that bright.

If I'm reading your post correctly, you're putting the term 'Wendy Wilkins' on a par with calling someone one of, if not THE, most offensive insult there is?

And as for the 'comedy' of football – sorry, but how exactly is that funny? Whenever I hear something like that, humour is the last thing I think of.

No, because in all of those other situations it's inappropriate to use abusive language. Not sure if you've ever been, but at football matches, people drink, swear, shout and generally act like twats that know everything there is to know about the game of football for 2 hours. This tends to result in abuse being thrown the way of players. It's a shocking concept I know, but I'm pretty sure the players are used to it because they are professionals and understand that their performances are not exempt from criticism just because they are playing for Brighton. I'd agree that personal abuse aimed at a player is wrong (i.e abuse regarding their family etc) and I'm not saying that I'm one to go out of my way to shout obscenities at players when I've had a drink, but quite frankly if Ashley Barnes balloons one over the bar from a yard or Gary Dicker makes another misplaced pass, anyone who has paid their entrance fee has a right to call them a turd in the heat of the moment because we are football supporters and that is part of the joy of being one.

Welcome to reality.

So paying an entrance fee and the fact that Buckley didn't hear makes it OK?

Do you work in retail at all? I might just pop in, buy something and call YOU a c*nt. Is that acceptable? Like HELL is it.

I couldn't care less if someone had paid one MILLION pounds for a ticket, verbally abusing any player let alone one of your own players is out of order.

Of course that makes it acceptable! If he isn't offended (and I really think you're being very precious regarding the thickness of footballers' skins) then why should you be?
