But surely the existence of your God relies on your faith not what others think or do not think, if you have faith what do you care about the damned?

I have been ridiculed all my life for my atheism (one day you will grow up and realise you are wrong, surely you made sure you did not give your children your perverted views etc.) why should I not return the favour to those who still, in the current world, believe in fairy stories?

I care cos I think it's f***ing rude and disrespectful to beliefs people are entitled to have, and neither side in this debate knows the answer any better than the other. I'm sorry that in life you have come across preachy types who have tried to make you feel wrong, but I am not one of them - and there isn't a single person doing that on here, as I predicted. You don't KNOW that there isn't a God, so giving it all that "fairy stories" shit towards people who choose to believe there might be (who on here have said nothing to you about your beliefs) is just narrow minded.

One thing for sure, the Athiests know no more or less about the matter. They believe God does not exist (or is that the Agnostics?) whereas the religious people believe he does exist. Religious people will explain the reasoning behind their belief, however, athiests often seem to just dismiss it out of hand. Going back to my other point just then, what's the difference between an athiest and an agnostic then?

Atheists believe that God definitely doesn't exist while agnostics neither believe or disbelieve in God - fence sitters if you like. I used to be agnostic but age has turned me atheist.

I'd say that an Atheist is someone who says that God doesn't exist, whereas an agnostic would not commit to either side.

An Atheist does not believe. An Agnostic isn`t sure either way.

Personally I'm not at all religious, but wouldn't say unequivocally that God doesn't exist. I find the whole subject quite interesting and am willing to consider possibilities, but don't think I'd ever proclaim myself as either an Atheist or religious, as you only find out the truth when you die (and even then you might not).

A perfect example of an agnostic - no disrespect intended.

At least the Christians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims etc know what they are, seems like some others really aren't sure.

Interestingly ( although I admit it might not be interesting ! ), my ex-Mother-in-Law is a strong believer and Christian. Yet whenever I said I was agnostic she would berate me with something along the lines that was just confused and had not properly found God yet. While I'm not accusing you of this, I have met many "Christians" with the same attitude. Strange that I'm quite happy for them to believe whatever they want but somehow I'm lacking for not being part of their "club".

I believe there is a spirit or life-force that connects us all. Call that God if you like. I don`t believe in any religion though. May the force be with you. Maybe spirit was the wrong word, I`m no Doris Stokes.

I don't doubt that there are all sorts of people out there like that (met plenty!), and whilst I don't feel it necessary to apologise on their behalf, I appreciate that atheists probably do get hassle for their beliefs all the time in society. But here, on NSC, this debate is always very one-sided where, without remotely provoking the situation, people of religious belief get a load of unsolicited abuse from atheists who apparently know better. And perhaps they do, but we don't know that so let's be polite and inclusive shall we?!

Who created God? And if he has always existed what the hell was he doing all that time before creating the universe?

Evolution is a fact. God is not. The whole idea is childish lunacy.

Ironic that the OP loves doing random words CAPITALISED, but when a letter actually needs to be capitalised he can't f***ing do it (it's God, by the way).

Who's to say that evolution and God can't go hand in hand?

I think most Christians these days would say that the Bible doesn't necessarily have to be taken completely literally.

Convenient.

Of course God and evolution cannot go hand in hand. Assuming we're talking about the christian/catholic God then the Bible clearly explains how the world was created... about 6000 years ago LOL!
